WHAT IS THE PROBLEM WITH BRIKAMA MUSIC INDUSTRY? DO YOU AGREE WITH THE WRITER?
1 lack of talent
2.lack of local support
3.Lack of investments/investors
4.lack of management
5.infrastructure
6.Lack of ambition
We are noticing the trend that ST is siting, single handedly creating a life line for many artists in Brikama, but is that enough? it’s simply not working.
ST can do enough but he cannot carry people who are not ready to evolve or work harder!!.
1. Lack of talent? Brikama has never lack talent back then or right now, Brikama has piles of talented young musicians in the country. We still have artists that can make waves in the country.
2. local support? Has the fan based in Brikama shifting beyond the borders to neglect their own?
I do not believe that, we believe many fans now demand quality over quantity.
3. Lack of investment/investors, investment is lacking in Brikama music industry, most artists complain for financial support, artists go in depts to stage shows, recording a song is challenging for many artists in brikama, shooting a standard video clip is very challenging for almost all the artists in Brikama, its very rare to see a Brikama artist shoot a video with for example: Anne visuals one of the leading videographers in the country, in this digital era of music visuals are very essential for commercial opportunities. Brikama hardly attracts investors from within or outside the borders.
4. Lack proper Management: based on investigation from our team, almost all of the artists in Brikama are been manage by their friends, some are even manage by their siblings , almost all of this managers are undergraduates or even dropouts, no management experience or exposure, no entrepreneurial skills or experience, no connections. a manager is responsible for selling the artist to attract investors. Some artists barely even have a manager.
5. Lack of infrastructure: this is one of the most important aspects for an entertainment industry grown, we have seen countless Artists from Brikama to stage shows outside Brikama an failed, now it’s hard to blame an artist for this because of curse you want to go out and showcase your talent, Brikama have only “Jokor” a facility that by day is getting outdated, it’s still the same look as of day it was established, then you have “boxba” which is recently become a career death trap for artists, expensive to stage a show at were many audience don’t like as a playback venue.
6. Lack of ambition: is the artists from Brikama less ambitious compared to their counterparts from other parts of the country? We have witnessed the rise of so many starts from Brikama who quickly fell of as quickly as they raised , most which rightly so couldn’t lived up to the standards they set for them selfs, or for some who made little money then jump ship to go an live a luxury lifestyle in kombo’s for a brief period of time forgetting the craft that made them the money they are enjoying, gradually becoming less relevant in the industry.
