Spanish footballer Lamine Yamal has been appointed a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, becoming the youngest representative in the organisation's history.
He joins the ranks of athletes who use their global influence to raise awareness about children’s rights, following in the footsteps of Lionel Messi, who has held the role since March 2010.
At just 18 years old, the FC Barcelona player will advocate for children’s right to play and to grow up in safe environments as part of his new role within the non-profit organisation.
With more than 87 million followers on social media, the forward will use his influence to promote initiatives supporting children’s rights and access to play, which is considered an essential tool for development and inclusion.
