MUHOOZI ANNOUNCES 2031 PRESIDENTIAL BID

Uganda’s army chief General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, son of President Yoweri Museveni, says he will run for president in 2031 and predicts he will win by a landslide.

The announcement comes at a politically sensitive time for Uganda. Museveni, who has ruled the country since 1986, secured another term in the January 2026 election, while the opposition has faced significant political and legal pressure.

With Muhoozi also serve as the country’s military chief. And his planned presidential bid raises further questions about the future role of the military in Ugandan politics.

2031 could become a defining moment for Uganda’s political future.

A U.S. military transport aircraft has landed at Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport, sparking questions over the purpose of the unexpected visit.

According to Reuters, the Boeing Globemaster, with U.S. tail number 07-7181, flew directly from Riga, Latvia, and landed in Moscow on Tuesday. It remains unclear whether the aircraft was carrying passengers or cargo.

The Kremlin says it has no information about the aircraft or the reason for its arrival. There has also been no immediate public explanation from Washington.

The unusual flight comes as U.S.-Russia discussions over the Ukraine war remain largely stalled, adding further intrigue to the aircraft’s unexplained presence in Moscow.

101-Year-Old Nigerian Woman Arrested Over Alleged Cannabis Sales

A 101-year-old Nigerian woman, Esther Ogunmabo, has been arrested in Ogun State for allegedly selling cannabis.

According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogunmabo was found with about 90 grams of cannabis packaged in small sachets for sale. She reportedly told investigators that she turned to selling the substance after her provisions shop was destroyed by fire.

The NDLEA said one of her daughters allegedly supplied the cannabis, which Ogunmabo then sold in smaller quantities within her community.

Due to her advanced age, NDLEA Chairman Mohamed Marwa directed that she be granted bail and provided with counselling.

The unusual case has sparked discussions about poverty, vulnerability and the circumstances that can push elderly people into illegal activities.

“Bi Moi Percentage Bi”: Rohey Malick Lowe Points to Crowd Size Amid Polling Debate

Speaking during the UDP’s 30th anniversary celebration, Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe thanked Ousainou Darboe and the party’s founding members for their role in leading the party through difficult times.

Amid the large turnout at the anniversary rally, she declared: “Bi moi percentage bi", pointing to the crowd as a visible measure of the party’s strength and support.

Her statement comes as the Gambia Participate survey has indicated that Talib Ahmed Bensouda enjoys stronger support than Ousainou Darboe in the West Coast Region.

The contrasting signals of polling figures on one hand and rally turnout on the other have added another dimension to the ongoing discussion about political support ahead of the 2026 presidential election.

Earthquakes Around the World: Why are there suddenly so many devastating earthquakes?

From the Philippines and Venezuela to Japan, Mexico, Colombia, Indonesia and Spain, a series of significant earthquakes has struck different parts of the world in recent months, raising fears that something unusual may be happening beneath the Earth’s surface.

But according to experts cited by The Independent, there is no evidence of a global earthquake pattern or that these major quakes are connected. So far this year, 11 earthquakes of magnitude 7.0 or greater have been recorded—below the annual average of around 15–18.

Scientists say the apparent surge is largely a coincidence, with the earthquakes occurring in different tectonic plate zones. While large earthquakes can trigger aftershocks and some smaller distant tremors, there is no evidence that major earthquakes are triggering other major earthquakes worldwide.

Experts, however, warn that earthquakes cannot be predicted, making preparedness essential.
