β€œWE’LL PLAY HERE IN SEPTEMBER” β€” YOUTH MINISTER ASSURES ON STADIUM READINESS
Minister Bakary Y. Badjie has expressed confidence that The Gambia will host its Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches at home in September, citing major progress on renovations to the country’s main stadium. GAMBIA SIGNS OFFSHORE EXPLORATION LICENCE WITH ENI FOR BLOCK A1

The Gambian government has signed a Petroleum Exploration, Development and Production Licence Agreement (PEPLA) with Eni Gambia Ltd for offshore Block A1, advancing efforts to attract investment into the upstream petroleum sector. Block A1 covers about 1,300 sq km on the deepwater Atlantic margin with depths up to 3,300m; officials stressed the licence does not mean hydrocarbons have been found. Under the agreement the state holds a 10% carried interest through exploration, represented by the Gambia National Petroleum Corporation. Petroleum Minister Nani Juwara said the signing reflects confidence in the country’s resource potential and pledged environmentally responsible, science-led exploration that safeguards the long-term interests of Gambians.
