Presidential Adviser Momodou Sabally has defended President Adama Barrow's decision to host the Arsenal Fans Club Gambia at the State House following Arsenal's Premier League success.
Speaking on Eye Africa TV, Sabally said football without controversy is not football, urging Manchester United and Liverpool supporters to calm down and allow Arsenal fans to enjoy their moment after years of waiting for league success.
"Arsenal won, and he called on the Arsenal Fans Club Gambians. Most of them had never entered the State House before, but he invited them to come, discuss, and have a get-together," Sabally said.
He described President Barrow as "one of the most humble and modest presidents," arguing that the State House is a place for all Gambians regardless of their background.
Sabally dismissed criticism of the celebration as political talk, saying: "The State House is a Bantaba where every Gambian is equal."
He added that President Barrow understands the realities of ordinary Gambians, saying he was raised in Mankamang K***a and remains connected to the daily experiences of citizens.
Sabally further stated that the "Youths Are Happy" slogan represents a national feeling and that young Gambians are happy with their President.
