Age Falsification Allegation Sparks Political Controversy in Nigeria

A political controversy has emerged in Nigeria after reports surfaced that a young parliamentary hopeful allegedly misrepresented his age to meet constitutional eligibility requirements.

Mahmud Sadis Buba drew significant public attention and gained popularity on social media when he declared his intention to contest for a House of Representatives seat under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State’s Sabon Gari constituency.

Buba, who presented himself as a 30-year-old community activist and former commercial driver living with hereditary dwarfism, was widely praised by many as a symbol of greater inclusion and disability representation in Nigerian politics.

Pape Thiaw: Prayer Comes Before Football

Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw has drawn widespread attention following comments he made during a press conference in the United States.

When asked why he went out to attend prayers despite strong winds and safety warnings from officials, Thiaw stressed that worship takes priority over everything else.

He said people may fear the wind, but Muslims fear Allah, who created it. According to him, football is merely entertainment, while the primary purpose of life is to worship Allah.

Thiaw added that even if Senegal were playing in the FIFA World Cup final, he and his team would still attend Jummah prayer, regardless of the consequences for the match.

He also told the journalist not to question or lecture them about their religious duties and practices.

CBG Governor Urges Gambians to Invest as Foreign Ownership Grows

Central Bank Governor Buah Saidy has expressed concern over the growing foreign ownership of businesses and properties in The Gambia, urging citizens, particularly young people, to invest more in the economy.

Speaking at the launch of the FinScope Consumer Gambia 2025 Survey, Saidy said Gambians must take greater control of the country’s economic future, warning that wealth generated locally could increasingly flow abroad if locals do not invest.

He cited Brikama as an example, saying he was surprised by the level of foreign investment in properties and businesses along key areas of the town.

Saidy also announced that the long-awaited Gambia Development Bank is expected to begin operations within the next six months to improve access to finance for local businesses.
