The Office of the President informs the public that His Excellency Adama Barrow will embark on a week‑long tour for the launch, laying of foundation stones, and inspection of ongoing road projects, health post facilities, and agriculture across the North Bank Region (NBR), Central River Region (CRR), Upper River Region (URR) and Lower River Region (LRR) from 8th to 14th August 2026.

The President will conclude his engagement on 19th August 2026 in the West Coast Region (WCR).

Fatoumata Tambajang Steps Aside, Backs Opposition Unity Ahead of 2026 Polls

Former Vice President Fatoumata Jallow Tambajang has announced that she will no longer contest The Gambia’s December 2026 presidential election, choosing instead to support efforts aimed at uniting the opposition.

Speaking during a coalition meeting last week, Tambajang said putting the country’s interests first is more important than pursuing her own presidential ambition.

President Nguema Tours Gambia’s Education and Health Facilities

President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema continued his site visits today with stops at the University of The Gambia (UTG) Faraba Campus and the National Emergency Treatment Center with the Biomedical Engineering Unit in Farato.

At UTG, he was received by Minister of Higher Education Prof. Pierre Gomez and Vice Chancellor Prof. Robert Robinson, who guided him through the School of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and the Dr. Badara Alieu Joof Library. This tour highlights Gambia’s commitment to advancing agricultural development and higher education.

Later in Farato, Minister of Health Dr. Lamin Samateh led the delegation through the hospital’s state‑of‑the‑art facilities, showcasing advanced medical equipment and their vital role in strengthening healthcare delivery.

ANTI-CRIME UNIT CONDUCTS EVENING PATROL IN NORTH BANK REGION

Date: July 31, 2026

Anti-Crime Unit officers from the Barra Sub-Base, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, conducted an evening patrol across Essau, Barra, Sami, Mayamba, Mbollet Ba, Kerr Jatta, Fass Nyanga Choi and Amdallahi as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen public safety and combat crime in the North Bank Region.

The operation resulted in the arrest of several suspects and the recovery of suspected prohibited drugs, including substances believed to be cannabis, kush and other controlled substances. Officers also impounded three motorcycles for further investigation.

During the operation, some of the suspects were also arrested for allegedly obstructing police officers in the lawful ex*****on of their duties.

All suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue. The recovered substances and motorcycles have been secured as exhibits pending further investigation and appropriate legal action.

The Gambia Police Force remains committed to proactive policing through sustained patrols and intelligence-led operations aimed at preventing crime, combating illicit drug activities and ensuring the safety and security of communities across the country.

President Nguema Explores Gambia’s Cultural Heritage, Visits Scientific Lab

Following a bilateral meeting with President Adama Barrow today, Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema and his delegation, accompanied by senior Gambian officials, toured key national sites.

Their first stop was the Bakau Kachikally Crocodile Pool, where they received an in‑depth explanation of its rich history and enduring role in preserving The Gambia’s cultural heritage.

The delegation then visited the National Food and Drug Quality Control Laboratory in Brusubi. The Hon. Minister of Health Dr. Lamin Samateh, welcomed and guided them through the facility, explaining the functions of various machines and units that support the government’s drive to ensure public health and safety.

President Nguema praised The Gambia’s commitment to both cultural preservation and scientific advancement.
