Senegalese President, His Excellency Mr. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, President of the Republic of Senegal, arrived early in the evening in Monrovia, capital of the Republic of Liberia, this Friday, July 25, 2025. He was warmly welcomed by the Liberian authorities. The Head of State will take part in the official ceremony commemorating the 178th anniversary of Liberia's national independence this Saturday, July 26, alongside His Excellency Mr. Joseph Nyumah Boakai, President of the Republic.

Attack Raises Career Frustrations over Ethnic Bias and Accuses Media Chiefs of being Tribally Aligned.

The country’s music star ATTACK has raises frustrations and dismay of his music career over what he described as tribal affiliations. He told West coast radio that his career has been holding back for years over ‘Mandinka media chiefs and their tribal supporters affiliations of their favorite artist.’

He made this remarks on West Coast Radio, where he strongly rebukes division in the music industry and calls for unity in a divided industry based on tribal differences: he cited that his shortfalls are only been reported and aired, not the achievements and successes he registers as an artist by the media chiefs he alleged of ethnic bias.

He described some artist of been so manipulative and their messages doesn’t match with their actions, after Journalist Peter Gomez told him about ST’s complimentary remarks about him of being a superstar.

Meet the Youngest Candidate Set to Shake Up Next Elections

In a bid to inject fresh energy into the country's politics, Haruna Jatta, the candidate of the newly unregistered Party for Change and Development (PCD), is ready to throw his hat into the ring for the 2026 elections.

Born in The Gambia in March 1996, Jatta is currently the Headteacher of Jatta Take Care Nursery and lower Basic School in Busumbala Village, The Gambia.

He completed his senior school in Masroor Senior Secondary School in 2018. He then enrolled at The Gambia College School of Education in 2019 and earned both Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Secondary Education by 2022. He also undertook additional professional courses in Business and Economics at the Management Development Institute (MDI), where he was duly certified, he is pursuing his BSc in Business and Economics at the International Open University (IOU).

In 2022, he joined The Gambia Police Force where he rose up to the rank of State Corporal. He resigned from the Police in 2025 driven by the desire to effect broader change through politics.

At 30, Jatta said he is determined to make a mark in the political arena. With a background in Business and Economic From The Gambia College , he believes he brings a unique perspective to the table. He told this Medium that, his desire to enter politics is not born out of ambition, but deep frustration.

Adding that, when voted in office, he will improve education by increasing teachers' salaries with 30%, provide housing care for rural posting and make learning materials available in school. He promised to subside agriculture with affordable fertilizers and modern irrigation. With healthcare, he said health centres will operate 24 hours across the country with trained Medical Personnel and free Pre-Natal and Child Care. He mentioned security reform, jobs creation opportunities, and promoting good governance are key on his agendas.

Mr. Jobarteh, emphasizes the importance of accountability as it is a key pillar in which there cannot be any Justice without it. He calls for the accountability of the civil society in order to create awareness about them.

Mr. Jobarteh, says Edward Francis Small Center for Rights and Justice is built on five pillars including accountability and equality for a more free society and calls for the participation of women in political space.

Mr. Jobarteh, calls everyone to become an activist as it helps to wipe out corruption and injustice: as no one should be train as an activist. He declares that the EFSCRJ is in partnership with activist group GALA in the fight against corruption.
