In Fulani culture, the Fula flute represents the living voice of the desert wind.

Young herders traditionally played the tambin while moving with livestock across the Sahel desert. Ancient oral traditions say the cattle recognise the flute melody and follow it because it feels familiar and calming.

Fula communities make up around 33% of Guinea's population.

This song, Sömbè N’nafan, honours the dedication and courage behind all forms of work, from herders to carpenters, musicians to healers, while celebrating African pride, unity, and the resilience that binds communities across the continent.

Drops on 18th March on with a killer remix 🌋

The balafon dates back to the rise of the Mali Empire in the 12th century CE.

One legend preserved in the Sunjata epic tells how griot Bala Faséké Kouyaté gained access to a powerful sacred balafon at the Sosso court, and after Sundiata Keita overthrew the Sosso ruler, the instrument passed into Mandinka hands.

The ‘original’ 800-year balafon, the Sosso‑Bala, is preserved in Niagassola, Guinea, recognised by UNESCO, and still played ceremonially by the Kouyaté family.

Tourama Niwalé by reimagines these centuries-old rhythms for the modern dancefloor, blending West African tradition with afro-disco energy.

Out 18th March on 💥
