I traveled from Guadeloupe to Antigua and Barbuda from Sunday 2 to Sunday 9 August 2026. I took Liat Air. The flight lasts about 40 minutes from Guadeloupe to Antigua and Barbuda, well-known for its 365 beaches.
According to the Official Website of Visit Antigua and Barbuda, "Antigua is a captivating volcanic island that emerged from the sea around 30 million years ago". It is "home to nearly 80,000 friendly residents". The capital is St. John's. The population of Barbuda is 1,300. "Barbuda is also home to the world's largest breeding colony of the Magnificent Frigate Bird, making it an ecological paradise". The capital is Codrington. "Antigua and Barbuda's diverse population includes African, European, and Indigenous heritage".
There are Heritage Sites such as The V.C. Bird Monument, The Prince Klass Monument, Betty's Hope Historic Sugar Plantation, Devil's Bridge National Park, Shirley Heights Lookout, Nelson's Dockyard National Park.
The Official Government Website of the nation says that "Under the Bird administration, Antigua achieved independence in association with Great Britain in 1967, and full independence in 1981". It was on 1 November 1981. Vere Cornwall Bird became Prime Minister of the new country.
For the Government Information Service, the country is "a constitutionnal monarchy with a parliament system".
Its Blue Economy. Tourism is an important sector in Antigua and Barbuda. Other key tertiary activities are restaurants, healthcare, education, banking, transportation and telecommunications.
Antigua Carnival occured from 25 July to 4 August 2026. It is a celebration of Emancipation.
