The Heart of Studio Aspiotis: A Legendary Console
A Journey Through Sound and Time
At the core of Studio Aspiotis lies a true icon of analog engineering — the Solid State Logic 4000 G+ console, one of the most celebrated desks in recording history. Known for its punchy, musical sound and unmatched warmth, the SSL 4000 series has defined the sonic character of countless iconic records.
But this particular console has a unique story.
It was originally commissioned by Swedish National Radio & Television, where it was part of a trio of SSL 4000 consoles. Ours was the third in line, following two others that bore the brunt of daily broadcast production. Because of this, it remained in near-pristine condition — rarely used, immaculately preserved, and maintained to the highest standards. This fortunate history makes it one of the few SSL 4000 G+ consoles in the world that still delivers analog fidelity with almost factory-level precision.
Later, the console was acquired by acclaimed Swedish producer and sound engineer Ulf Kruckenberg (Rammstein, Apocalyptica, Clawfinger and more) a respected name in the European rock and metal scene. In a rare and meaningful handoff, Ulf entrusted the console to George Aspiotis, founder of Studio Aspiotis, with whom he shares a strong professional bond and a deep appreciation for the analog process.
Today, this legendary SSL lives and breathes once more at Studio Aspiotis in Athens, fully restored and integrated into the heart of our creative workflow. It continues to shape the sound of modern productions, while honoring the craftsmanship and sonic legacy of its past.
This console is not just a piece of equipment — it’s a bridge between eras, a living tool of expression, and the beating heart of our studio.
