The name “Modular Expansion” is inspired from the first analog modular synthesizers of which different parts were connected between each-other, forming an expansion. Modular Expansion is a cultural body of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and has to its credit actions with the auspices and financial support of the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Athens. Modular Expansion have events in a lot of European cities and famous places like Berghain, Tresor, Su***de, Sisyphos, Renate, Birgit in Berlin, also in cities like London, Rome, Barcelona, Sofia, Warsaw, Moscow, Tel Aviv and at the most prestigious places in Athens. Modular Expansion is one of the first teams which started organizing Techno events in Athens in 1998. In the end of the 90s began to host artists from the labels such as Tresor, Basic Channel and Chain Reaction, presenting the Berlin underground music vibe and making techno popular in the Greek capital. Founder of Modular Expansion known as George Apergis performs in 2002 at the legendary Tresor in Berlin. Counting in his history more than 1000 events and hundreds of guest artists like Adam Beyer, The Advent, Alexander Kowalski, Truncate, Ø [Phase], Schwefelgelb, Yanamaste, Parallx, Philipp Strobel, Psyk, dj Rolando, Monoloc, Drumcell, Brian Sanhaji, Radial, Substance, Vainqueur, Johannes Volk, Funk D Void, Dave Tarrida, Sender Berlin, Kevin De Vries, Subjected and many more belongs in one of the oldest teams in the city of Athens
In 2012 come the label of Modular Expansion Records, with releases and the support of global fame artists which has been the baseline to follow up events abroad and especially in Berlin, with gigs in clubs like Su***de, Berghain, Tresor, Sisyphos and many more. Label roster of Modular Expansion Records includes artists like EMEX, George Apergis, Brian Sanhaji, Alexander Kowalski, Subjected, Insolate, Developer, Truncate, Zadig, studio416, NX1, Johannes Volk, Radial, SLV, Dave Trarrida, Lee Holman, Ray Kajioka, Hommé, Module One, Mikael Delta, Lunatik, Unam Zetineb, Birth of Frequency, Absent, Nadjia Lind, Invite, Moving Thoughts, Alex Retsis, Axel Karakasis, Yotam Avni, Stardice, Scan Mode, Sender Berlin and many more. Modular Expansion Podcast series were founded in 2013. They have featured a premier list of international artists and have already received widespread recognition.
