P.S. In April, I brought the album to the attention of a friend who runs a record and hi-fi store in Halle/Saale. The guy was very curious and had already listened to the record in the store. Even while the A-side was still playing, a customer immediately bought the copy from him. Ecophony Rinne is truly unusual. To test it further, I have a copy in my case for the High End show in Vienna.”

🔊 The Speaker in the Corner, Part 2 ✨

This episode follows the ideas carried through Lucky Cloud into Beauty and the Beat, brilliant corners and a wider network of listening spaces that reshaped how sound was experienced in London and beyond.

Not through nostalgia or faithful imitation, but through people building rooms around warmth, pressure, hospitality and attention. Klipschorns moved from temporary parties into restaurants, bars, record shops and homes. Sound systems became social architecture.

From East London to Sheffield, Birmingham, Paris, Lisbon, Nantes and beyond, this is a story about how listening culture spread hand to hand: through friendships, labour, record bags, food, dance floors and carefully tuned corners.

🗼Tokyo Riddim returns to its spiritual home, Fox & Firkin, for a full summer Sunday of live music, DJs, record digging, Japanese market stalls and family-friendly outdoor energy 🌞

After a series of packed London parties, Tokyo Riddim Sunday brings the sound back to where Tokyo Riddim Band first came alive: a cross-cultural meeting point between Japanese music, reggae, dub and record culture.

Live on stage, Tokyo Riddim Band() brings together three generations of Japanese female musicians with reggae-rooted drums, heavy bass, city pop guitar and live dub mixing. Led by legendary keyboard player Izumi “Mimi” Kobayashi, with saxophonist Megumi Mesaku - a key figure in London’s reggae scene and a close collaborator of Jah Shaka - vocalist Ayana, and producer Kay Suzuki on siren and dub effects, the band has become one of Time Capsule’s most joyful live projects, turning the Tokyo Riddim compilation series into a living, dancing, dubwise celebration.

🇯🇵 Joining them live are Swans() from Kanagawa, Japan, whose laid-back, dubwise instrumental grooves make them a perfect match for a summer afternoon in the Fox garden.

Across the day, DJs Nina Yamada (), Shoko Yoshida () , Table From Three () and Izumi “Mimi” Kobayashi () will move through reggae, dub, Japanese grooves, tropical sounds, soulful oddities and summer dancefloor selections.

🛒 From midday to 5pm, the garden will also host a record fair organised by VDS London () and various Japanese food market stalls, alongside a Double Dutch performance by HARIBOW KIDS at 3pm, making this an all-day gathering for music lovers, families, diggers and dancers.

Come early, stay late, and spend a summer Sunday in the Tokyo Riddim universe!

Immerse yourself in the soul of Japanese listening culture with Jazz Kissa, an expansive photographic exploration of Japan’s iconic jazz cafés, known as Jazz Kissa.

The book is the result of over fifteen years of dedicated work by photographer and cultural historian Katsumasa Kusunose (), who has meticulously documented these intimate spaces and the people who keep their spirit alive.

The publication features a foreword by Devon Turnbull, founder of OJAS (), whose handcrafted speakers and installations have become touchstones of the modern listening movement. His words connect the philosophy of Jazz Kissa with today’s global resurgence of high-fidelity audio culture. Woven throughout the book is a special exploration of the design of the Hi-Fi equipment, from the legendary Altec A7s to iconic JBL speakers and bespoke amplifiers, revealing how the physicality of these machines shapes the emotional experience of listening. The aesthetic choices of these cafés are inseparable from the sound they produce, making them both temples of music and showcases of design excellence.

With a cover inspired by the texture of Altec A7 speakers and wrapped in a traditional OBI strip, Jazz Kissa is both a cultural document and a beautiful object in its own right.

Originally released in 2021 and long out of print, Stories From Another Time 1982–1988 returns in an upgraded edition following years of demand and following years of requests for a repress.

Recorded between Angola, Portugal and France during the 1980s, Mário Rui Silva’s music exists in its own world somewhere between semba, folk, spiritual jazz, saudade and dreamlike electronic experimentation. Drum machines, delicate percussion, floating synthesizers and extraordinary guitar playing come together in a body of work that still feels difficult to place in time.

This new edition features a half-speed mastered 45RPM cut by Stuart Hawkes at Metropolis Studios, alongside an expanded 4-page insert with new writings, photographs and reflections following Mário Rui Silva’s passing in 2024.
