💔 DAISI RAY 💔 2010(ish)-2025

Daisi literally walked into our lives on February 19 2012. I decided on a youthful whim to walk from our longtime apartment and com rec hq on Roosevelt in Midcity to a show we were hosting at Banks St Bar. Somewhere along the way, Daisi picked her head up out of a trash heap and ran right up to us. After a few minutes of pets I think I said something along the lines of “we’re going to a show! Wanna tag along?” And tag along she did! She followed us all the way to Banks St Bar and walked around off leash the whole night, making lots of friends and probably eating lots of snacks. When the show was over, her and I hopped in a car and went home. I woke up the next morning so excited to have her cuddling up to me in bed. We walked her around the corner to the vet where we were told she was probably about two years old and freshly separated from a litter of puppies.

It didn’t take long for her face to become synonymous with the dog logo for com rec. She instantly made friends with everyone she met, spent one Block Party off leash walking around and went on “tour” with All People to SXSW one year. Over the years, the Rodrigue’s and the Rays shared the joy of Daisi’s life and tried to give her the best life a companion animal could wish for. Her paws graced all parts of the city from uptown to downtown, east bank to West Bank. She turned her nose up at no snack that came her way and a LOT of snacks came her way. The last few years, as her hearing and sight waned, she enjoyed relaxing and sleeping more than walks, but would still excitedly bound toward and bowl of food, a snack or a familiar face. We’re extremely thankful to have gotten to know her and we hope she felt as much love from us as we did from her.
