RICHTHOFEN SHIELD

Air Force Exercise “Richthofen Shield 2025” at Münster/Osnabrück Airport

From October 6 to 10, 2025, the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) will conduct the large-scale air force exercise “Richthofen Shield 2025.” At the center of this operation is Tactical Air Force Wing 71 “Richthofen,” which will carry out training flights with Eurofighter jets at FMO Flughafen Münster/Osnabrück. The main activity at FMO is scheduled to take place between October 8 and 10.

The aim of the exercise is to practice military procedures under realistic conditions—especially the use of civilian airports in the event of a national defense scenario. The training focuses on how critical infrastructure, such as Münster/Osnabrück Airport, can be integrated for military purposes, such as take-offs and landings of fighter jets. Key to the exercise is the smooth coordination between the air force, airport operators, and air traffic control.

About AKS
