Archdiocese will celebrate Mass
for CNMI Gov. Palacios Friday, July 25

The Archdiocese of Agaña will celebrate a Mass of Intention to pray for the late Honorable Arnold Indalecio Palacios, Governor of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) at 12:10 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2025.

The Mass will be celebrated inside the main church of Dulce Nombre de Maria Cathedral-Basilica in Hagåtña.

Governor Palacios passed away peacefully Wednesday evening July 23, 2025 surrounded by loved ones, the Office of the CNMI Lieutenant Governor said in a statement.

In a message earlier this evening, Archbishop Ryan P. Jimenez expressed prayers and condolences to First Lady Wella Palacios and her family. “May our loving God hold them close to his heart and comfort them in their time of sorrow,” the archbishop said.

The archbishop said Governor Palacios led the people of the Northern Marianas with tremendous strength, dedication and conviction. He noted the late Governor’s faith and active participation in the Catholic Church in Saipan.

Archbishop’s message of prayer
on passing of CNMI Governor Palacios

On behalf of the Archdiocese of Agaña as well as the bishops and Catholics of the Pacific region, I extend prayers on the passing of Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Governor Arnold I. Palacios.

I send our love and condolences to his dear widow, First Lady Wella Palacios and the family. May our loving God hold them close to his heart and comfort them in their time of sorrow.

Governor Palacios led the people of the Northern Marianas with tremendous strength, dedication and conviction. His faith in God was also important to him. Together with his wife Wella, Governor Palacios was an active member of the Catholic community and Kristo Rai Church in Garapan.

He loved his family, children and grandchildren and the people of the Northern Mariana Islands deeply. We are grateful for his leadership and service to the people and lift him up in prayer to our merciful Father.

Archbishop Ryan P. Jimenez and all in our Archdiocese of Agaña share the joy of Monsignor Ruben D. Espeno, S.T.L., H.P. as he commemorates the 35th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood on July 24, 2025.

Monsignor Ruben Espeno was ordained a priestly servant of God on July 24, 1990. On his 35th Sacerdotal Anniversary, we thank Our Lord and ask him to continue to watch over and strengthen Monsignor Ruben. May he be bestowed with all the graces that he needs to effectively minister to our people with love, wisdom and and an all-abiding trust in Jesus Christ.
