Halim Khan, fondly known as โNoel,โ is a humanitarian, community leader, and business innovator.
Born with a heart for service, Khanโs humanitarian work spans decades. As the current Imam at the MMZ Masjid since 2004, his faith has guided his efforts to assist those in need. Khan has performed the Hajj pilgrimage three times (1989, 1996, and 1999), further cementing his commitment to spiritual and charitable values.
Throughout his career as a businessman, which began in 1983 as an importer of motor vehicle spares, while using his resources to uplift others. He identified children unable to attend school due to poverty, and purchased uniforms and books, for them as well as liaising with the headteacher(s) of the respective school to ensure their admission. He also provided care for the sick and arranged ambulance services for those in need.
In cases where individuals died without family or identification, Khan ensured they received a dignified burial. He collaborated with pastors, pandits, and imams to perform last rites while personally covering all expenses.

Through partnerships with organizations such as the Amanda Hands Foundation and local NGO Baitul Rahmah, Khan has facilitated monthly distributions of food hampers, clothing, and medications to families in need, extending his reach across various regions of Guyana.
Khanโs commitment to youth development has transformed lives. He has helped countless young people find employment and partnered with the Guyana Police Force (Region 3) to provide skills training for troubled youths through the Leonora Technical Institute. Initiatives like the Community Policing Education and Training Strategy (C-PETS) program and youth-focused collaborations with Region 3 law enforcement have strengthened communities and created safer neighborhoods.
Khan served as the President of the Region 3 Chamber of Commerce (2017โ2021) and currently holds the presidency of the Region 3 Private Sector Inc. Under his leadership, Region Three has experienced significant growth in trade, tourism, and agriculture.
An advocate for agriculture tourism, Khan has worked with Caribbean and international organizations to promote sustainable food production and regional trade, expanding Guyana's reach in foreign markets.

Khan has also used sports as a tool to foster national unity. As the President of the Guyana Softball League, he created history by organizing the GTT 10/10 Softball Competition, a nationwide event that brought together 750 teams from all 10 regions of Guyana in a single day. The tournament featured 250 female teams and 500 male teams, each comprising 13 players. The event was not just a sporting milestone but also a testament to Khanโs ability to inspire and mobilize communities for a shared cause.
In addition to this historic achievement, Khan administered the Kares T20 Tape Ball Countrywide Competition, further promoting camaraderie and teamwork through sports.

Khanโs leadership has extended to disaster response, where he ensures assistance is rendered at fire, accident, or natural disaster sites. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as the Region 3 Coordinator for the Task Force, ensuring safety protocols were implemented effectively.
As treasurer of the Men on Mission Region 3 initiative, Khan continues to lead efforts to improve community welfare. He also contributes to education as a board member of the Leonora Secondary School and a former board member of the Leonora Technical Institute.
A Visionary for Unity and Collaboration
Khanโs efforts to foster unity extend to interfaith collaborations with pastors, pandits, and imams, strengthening interfaith harmony across Guyanaโs diverse communities. As the President of the Guyana-Cuba Solidarity Movement, he champions international collaboration in agriculture, healthcare, and education.
