Plaisance Secondary School student stabbed in the face by colleague

See below the post that was made by the child's sister

"This is my sister who attends Plaisance secondary school. She was injured by a guy... who attends the same school...my sister did not deserve to get that. He bore my sister with a scissors for what particular reason I don't know. This is totally not acceptable because he already knows that he is not supposed to lay a finger on a female but I guess he's too ignorant and dunce to know this..now my sister has to sleep in pain all because of this jackass..but remember what goes around comes back around. God don't sleep time you take to pick a fight with a girl study how you're going make your parents proud... this is not going down like that".

Sterling Products Limited rewards 12 students who excelled at NGSA 2023

GEORGETOWN, Guyana – August 26, 2023: Sterling Products Limited, in keeping with the company’s annual tradition, recognised and rewarded 12 children of employees who successfully completed the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) this year.

Each child received a cash award of $80,000 during a small Bursary Award ceremony at the company’s office at Providence, East Bank Demerara on August 25.

The awardees were Ryshad Munaisar, Sharda Seecharran, Irfaan Nasoordin, Matthew Mahadeo, Angel Jagessar, Ethan Jacob, Angielena Shiwbaran, Naresh Singh, Josiah Richmond, Darren Gharbaran, Ebony Thomas and Arren Lalgie.

General President at the Clerical and Commercial Workers' Union, Mr. Sherwood Clarke, in his address to the awardees, urged them to be intentional and wise in making decisions as they advance along their academic journey.

He stated, “You’re going into a new environment. There will be persons who would sometimes want to lead you in the wrong direction. I want to encourage you to listen to your parents, listen to your
teachers and allow them to guide you.”

Deputy Chief Education Officer (DCEO) for Amerindian and Hinterland Development, Mr. Marti DeSouza commended the company for its support towards the students, while encouraging the students to remain focused on their studies.

He said, “I expect that you will make the best of this opportunity, and maybe in another five years from now, some of you may top your Secondary schools.”

The Sterling Products Limited management team also encouraged the students to continue to work diligently as they progress to higher education.

The parents of the awardees expressed appreciation to the company for continuously investing in the academic development of the children.

Ms. Maneka Jacob noted that she is honored to be employed by a company that recognises its employees, stating that the award will be a tremendous support.

The annual bursary programme has been in place for over two decades and the monetary award is presented to children who would have attained at least a 70 percent pass at the examination.

Press Statement

Mohameds Challenge Reuters to Produce Evidence to Support Allegations Made in Report - Vile Diabolical Hatchet Job

The Mohameds take note of a special Reuters report titled "US Probing Exxon Contractor in Guyana for Smuggling Drugs, Gold" dated July 14, 2023.

The report printed by Reuters is defamatory of the character and reputation of Mr. Nazar Mohamed and his son Azruddin Mohamed.

A cursory reading of the report reveals that it is a repetition and regurgitation of the now widely accepted discredited Bram Ebus report published on September 14, 2020.

The report is premised and riddled with unverified and unsubstantiated assertions that the Mohameds are the subjects of investigations by "...the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Department of Homeland Security, and other US agencies on the suspicion of smuggling Colombian co***ne and illegally mined Venezuelan gold to the United States, Europe, and the Middle East..." and for "...laundering money for drug traffickers and criminals, including sanctioned Russian nationals operating in the region..."

The Mohameds reject the purported sources referred to in the defamatory report and the reckless use of sources as the basis of the entire report.

The Mohameds categorically deny that they are the subject of any investigations by any US authorities. In response to a request by Reuters to respond to these baseless allegations, the Mohameds not only specifically denied these allegations but challenged Reuters to produce any evidence to support the allegations made in the report.

The article revealed that Reuters failed to do so.

The Mohameds repeat and maintain their challenge to Reuters to produce any information to support that these allegations are of any substance.

The Mohameds are surprised and astonished that such a seemingly reputable international news agency would publish such allegations that are devoid of any substance.

It is disappointing that Reuters would permit itself to be the tool of misinformation and an agent of the detractors of the Mohameds'.

The Mohameds consider this report a most vile diabolical sloppy hatchet job, published with the primary intention to create the appearance that the Mohameds are in a position of conflict with the US law enforcement agencies.

The tone, tenor, and content of the report clearly aim to lower the Mohameds' estimation in the eyes of Guyanese, the international community, and to destroy their business relations, integrity, and credentials.

In conclusion, we remain fully committed to upholding the law and conducting our business operations with the highest standards of legitimacy and integrity.
