While at the New Amsterdam Hospital, located in Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), the Minister of Health, Honourable Dr Frank Anthony, conducted a walk-thru of the Neonatal Department, to ensure that the services being offered are up to the standards set by the MoH.

Fisherman remanded for setting house on fire at Mahaica

Anthony Budram, a 33-year-old Fisherman of Lot 21 Mosquito Hall, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara, was arrested on September 10, 2023, and charged with the offence of 'Setting Fire to Building', contrary to Section 141 of Criminal Law (Offences) Act Chapter 08:01.

Budram is accused of committing the act on the dwelling house of Kubram Ramlall, age 49, and Goomattie Pitamber, age 75, both of Lot 79 Mosquito Hall, Mahaica, on September 9, 2023.

The accused appeared at the Sparendam Magistrate's Court before Magistrate George, where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plead to the charge and was remanded to prison. The next court date is October 10, 2023.
