Happy Wellness Wednesday With Miss Universe Guyana! Who is Chandini Baljor
When my little sister was born, I wasn’t too happy about no longer being my daddy’s only girl. But very quickly, I fell completely in love with her. She was diagnosed with hydrocephalus, and for the first time in my life I saw my parents truly helpless. I can never forget that night when they held each other, crying, desperate for any doctor to listen and save their baby.
One surgeon did. He listened to my mother’s broken plea, and because of him, today my sister is a thriving 13-year-old. She’s still everyone’s baby, but she’s also my greatest inspiration. That night showed me the kind of doctor I want to be. The one who brings hope when families feel like they have none. The one who listens, even when the world feels like it isn’t listening.
And it also taught me that health is not just physical. My parents needed someone to treat their hearts and minds as much as their daughter’s condition. That is why I want to highlight mental health. Because medicine is not only about curing — it’s about caring.
My dream to become a doctor is born out of love. Love for my sister, love for my family, and love for every person who is desperate for someone to stand beside them in their darkest moment. Chandini
