𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐊𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐦𝐚 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥

On Monday September 15th 2025, an educational lecture were held at Port Kaituma Secondary School (North West District, Region #01), spearheaded by P. Narine Assistant Superintendent th3 Officer in-charge of #02 Sub-Division along with Inspector U. Gordon, Sergeant Rogers, and other officers from Port Kaituma Police Station. The session aimed to share valuable knowledge and insights.

Assistant Superintendent P. Narine emphasized the vital role of education in the development and advancement of a country. He highlighted how education transmits knowledge across generations, fostering critical thinking, character development, and a strong mindset. He also stressed that education is not only a tool for intellectual and professional growth but also a cornerstone for socio-economic progress and the cultivation of spiritual and cultural values.

In addition, P. Narine further emphasized that education is both the art of teaching knowledge and the act of receiving knowledge from others. It encompasses the knowledge gained through schooling or instruction and the institution of teaching as a whole. He highlighted that education is a powerful tool for development, a foundation for growth, and a means to combat poverty, maintain law and order, and promote safety against crime. Education also plays a key role in women’s empowerment, problem-solving, and building self-confidence.

During the session, the traffic officer also addressed the issue of littering, explaining that it is an offense, stressing the importance of using bins to maintain a clean and healthy environment.

The lecture, were attended by 33 teachers and 500 students, the ranks received widespread gratitude and support from the audience.

𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐭 𝐒𝐭. 𝐈𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐮𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥

On Monday September 15, 2025, Sergeant Persaud, Corporal Croal, and Woman Constable Pedro of the Lethem Police Station Traffic Department conducted a road safety lecture at St. Ignatius Secondary School.

The session covered the following topics:

1. Rules of the Road
2. Always walk on the right-hand side of the road
3. Kurb drill
4. Wearing reflective clothing at night
5. Pedal cycle must be equipped with bell, brakes, and lights
6. Exercise caution at intersections and look out for vehicles that are turning
7. Obey traffic laws, including signals and signs
8. Wear a properly fitted helmet to protect your head while cycling or as a pillion passenger
9. Consequences of being an unlicensed driver
10. Prohibition of bullying, stealing, and fighting

The event was attended by eighty (80) teachers and one thousand (1,000) students. In closing, the teachers expressed heartfelt thanks to the traffic ranks for taking the time to deliver this important road safety lecture, which will help raise awareness among students and the community.

𝐏𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠

On Sunday, 14th September 2025, five (5) pedestrian crossings were painted by the following traffic ranks within the # 1 Sub-Division: Corporal Bassant, Lance Corporal Fredricks, Lance Corporal Luckhoo and Woman Special Constable Tahal.

The pedestrian crossings are as follows:

1. Fort Canje Public Road
2. Bohemia Primary School
3. Cumberland Primary School
4. Little Bethlehem Nursery School
5. Savannah Park Nursery School

𝐋𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬

In keeping with the road safety Theme 2024/2025 “DO THE RIGHT THING“, Sergeant Callender, Sergeant Bagot, and Woman Corporal Johnson from the Bartica Police Station Traffic Department, and the Karrau Village Toshao Shane Cornelius held a lecture to drivers at Karrau Village, and the following topics were discussed:

* Maintenance of motor vehicle

* Importance of wearing a seat belt

* Don't drink and drive

* Drivers driving without a driver's license

* Defensive driving

* Coloured lights are prohibited on motor vehicles.

* The importance of the checkpoint

Several issues and concerns were raised and addressed.

𝐋𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 𝐓𝐎 𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐎𝐋

Earlier today, Monday 15th September 2025, a lecture was carried out by Sergeant Bugsorg of the Sherima Police Station Traffic Department, at the Wineperu Primary School and the following topics were discussed:-

1. Kurb drill

2. Proper use of the pedestrian crossing and how to identify it

3. ⁠How to identify a traffic light and its functions

4. The rules of the road

5. Walking two abreast on the right-hand side of the road

6. No playing on the roadway

7. Wearing bright clothing at night

8. Importance of education and being disciplined

9. Road safety theme “Do the right thing”

They were also reminded of the importance of not stealing, fighting, or bullying.

In attendance were 18 students and 6 teachers.

𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐁𝐚𝐠𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

On Friday, 12th September 2025, the Women’s Association of Region #7, led by Deputy Commander D. Handy, conducted a school bag and supplies distribution exercise at the 4 Miles Housing Scheme.

During the initiative, female ranks engaged with children of the community, offering words of encouragement and support. The children expressed heartfelt gratitude to the ranks for their generosity.

Deputy Commander Handy reminded the children that education is the key to success, encouraging them to stay focused, work hard, and remain dedicated, as perseverance and commitment will bring future achievements.

This activity highlights the Association’s ongoing efforts to promote education, empower youth, and strengthen the bond between the police force and the wider community.

On Saturday September 13th 2025, Woman Sergeant Williams, along with her team from the Mackenzie Police Station and members of the Road Safety Council in Region #10, painted several pedestrian crossings.

Below are the following Pedestrian Crossings that were painted:

1. Bamia Nursery & Primary School
2. South Amelia’s Ward Nursery School
3. Amelia’s Ward Nursery & Primary School

This initiative aims to enhance road safety and improve the walking environment for students and pedestrians in the area.
