The Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Avenue of the Republic once again turned into a public spectacle yesterday as Leader of the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party Azruddin Mohamed and his father Nazar Mohamed turned up for the continuation of the extradition matter in Court Five.

With barricades stretching from Croal Street to Brickdam, westbound motorists on Croal Street were forced to turn north onto Avenue of the Republic or continue straight to loop around Stabroek Market, causing traffic to back up along Brickdam in front of the Parliament Building and beyond.

The Private Sector Commission’s (PSC) observers report yesterday said that the September 1st General and Regional Elections were well run and the results credible and transparent.

It also said it had seen no evidence to support the European Union’s (EU) observer mission’s report finding that state resources were abused by the incumbent. The comment came in response to a question from this newspaper, as the PSC presented its report on the conduct of the 2025 polls.

Guyana and the US yesterday signed a Statement of Intent to expand joint military cooperation “with full respect for the sovereignty and laws of both countries”, a release from the Office of the President said.
