Prayers for Chief Raoni Metuktire

O cacique Raoni Metuktire, uma das mais importantes lideranças indígenas do Brasil e do mundo, foi internado em estado grave na Unidade de Terapia Intensiva (UTI) do Hospital Dois Pinheiros, em Sinop, no norte de Mato Grosso. A informação foi divulgada neste domingo (15) por meio de boletim médico.

De acordo com o boletim, Raoni, de 94 anos, foi transferido de Peixoto de Azevedo após apresentar vômitos, dor abdominal, inapetência e piora do estado geral. Ao dar entrada na unidade hospitalar, exames identificaram sinais de infecção grave, desidratação, alterações na função renal e comprometimento respiratório. A principal hipótese médica é de sepse com foco pulmonar, possivelmente associada a uma pneumonia broncoaspirativa

O documento informa ainda que o líder indígena apresenta quadro de suboclusão intestinal, condição que dificulta a passagem do conteúdo pelo intestino. Em razão da gravidade do caso e da necessidade de monitoramento contínuo, ele permanece internado na UTI recebendo hidratação venosa, antibioticoterapia de amplo espectro e acompanhamento multiprofissional.

Reconhecido internacionalmente pela defesa dos povos indígenas e da Amazônia, Raoni é uma das principais vozes do movimento indígena brasileiro. Até a publicação desta reportagem, não havia previsão de alta nem novo boletim sobre a evolução do quadro clínico.
