IDB predicts higher food import prices, increased forex demand, but “robust” economy

Two held with 22 kilos of co***ne in West Demerara

Anti-drug agents on Wednesday seized 22.394 kilogrammes of co***ne on the La Grange Public Road and arrested two Guyanese men, the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) said. The agency said its agents received information and conducted and intercepted a motor vehicle. "A subsequent search of the motor vehicle revealed 20 brick-like parcels containing a quantity of co***ne," CANU said.

A 13-year old boy was Wednesday morning shot to his buttocks, in a failed armed robbery bid on an 81-year old man near a church on Brickdam, police said. The incident allegedly occurred on Wednesday January 14, 2026 about 10:15hrs at Brickdam in front of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Brickdam, Georgetown. Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago not included in latest US visa policy for the Caribbean

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Jan 14, CMC – Several Caribbean Community (CARICOM), countries, excluding Guyana, and Trinidad and Tobago, have been included among 75 countries that the United States Wednesday announced it was suspending the processing of immigrant visas.

Former partners in suspected murder-suicide at city guest house

Two employees of a guest house on Lime Street, Georgetown died in a murder-suicide early Tuesday morning, police said.
