Behind — The End Is Rear.

Our film has officially wrapped production and is now heading into post!
This is a film that’s been two years in the making — a story we were crazy enough to make without funding, just pure graft.

Directed by , Behind is a post-apocalyptic satire about… well, let’s just say the title is very literal.

Before Straw became a short film, it was originally written as a dark comedy series — think HBO’s Barry meets Scottish folk horror.
Here’s a look at the moodboard we created when Straw was first conceived as a pilot.

While the idea never quite found the right home with regional broadcasters, we didn’t want to let the world die — so we reimagined it as this short film.

While our crowdfunded short stands on its own, we’ve always envisioned a much bigger world beyond Grimshore Isle — one that taps into universal themes of family, identity, loyalty, and belief, all wrapped in a humorous take on the folk horror genre.

We believe these are stories that could travel far beyond Scotland.

Straw has found its Producer!

We’re thrilled to welcome the brilliant Serena to the team as Producer of STRAW.

Serena Gardner makes her return to the world of Scottish horror, following her wild ride with Midgies.

Serena had this to say:
“I am horrifically (see what I did there!) excited to be back on board and producing STRAW for this brilliant team of upcoming cult horror filmmakers. I absolutely cannot wait to get started on what is destined to be another huge Scottish horror genre classic—and hopefully this time we won’t be eaten alive by Midgies ;)”

Bio:
Horror veteran Serena Gardner has long been a driving force in indie horror. From producing Scottish body horror Unravelling for writer/director Aimie Willemse (supported by Creative Scotland and premiered at FrightFest UK & Screamfest LA) to producing the viral trailer Midgies (garnering over 1 million views) for filmmaker Alessio Avezzano, her mark on the genre is undeniable. She’s also acted in cult hits like My Bloody Banjo (Liam Regan, Troma) and She’s Dead (Nick Box, Dead Good Like Films), and her debut horror script Black Annis won Best Screenplay at Oregon Scream Week and was a finalist at Austin After Dark.
