Launched by the Hong Kong Exporters’ Association in 2012, the Hong Kong Smart Design Awards 香港智營設計大賞 (HKSDA) aim to inspire and encourage designers to push the boundaries of creativity while integrating smart technologies into their work. By celebrating excellence in design, the program not only uplifts individual creators but also strengthens the overall design community in Hong Kong, positioning the city as a hub for innovative design in the region.

We interviewed two homegrown designers among the winners of this year’s edition: Michelle Wing-Man YUEN designed a “Puff Pastry Egg Tart Bed” (PP.Laboratory) crafted from paper, for cats to play and rest; Wai-Ho NG reimagined “WayWay Super-Concentrated Fragrance Laundry Pods New Year Edition (Pomelo Flavour)” to celebrate the brand’s 50th anniversary.

Explore "Connected Roots," a duo exhibition featuring Japanese artist Mizuki Nakazawa and American artist Ryan Schneider, on view at AISHONANZUKA Hong Kong until 7 November.

This show is a dialogue between two artists who transcend geographical and cultural boundaries through their deep connection to wood sculpture.

Mizuki Nakazawa's work inherits the delicacy of Japanese wood carving while incorporating contemporary perspectives. Schneider's work is rooted in the natural environment of Joshua Tree National Park in the United States, integrating elements of Native American mythology and German Expressionism.
