Road Trip Ready? 🛣️ Volvo Drops Two New EVs ⚡️ in Hong Kong—And Jay Fung Approves ✅

The EX90 is available in two variants, starting from HK$899,900 for the Plus RWD and going up to HK$1,399,900 for the Performance Ultra AWD. The ES90 leads with the Plus RWD version, priced from HK$799,900.

🎉 Volvo held a launch event on March 6 at New Town Plaza in Sha Tin to unveil these models with singer-songwriter Jay Fung joining as a brand friend to introduce the vehicles and perform. Fung shared his personal connection to Volvo, noting his family in Canada have long been owners, and expressed excitement about the EX90’s spacious seven-seat design for road trips — while emphasizing that despite his love for driving, safety remains his priority, making Volvo’s philosophy a perfect match for him.

1951 FRAZER NASH LE MANS REPLICA: Once the overall winner of 12 Hours of Sebring

💎 A 1951 Frazer Nash Le Mans Replica represents British racing prowess as the overall winner of the inaugural 12 Hours of Sebring race, where it was driven to victory by Harry Grey and Larry Kulok.

🚅 One of just 34 factory-built examples, chassis FN160 features the tubular aluminium body and aerodynamic design that made these cars among the most agile racers of their time, with precise steering and nimble handling.

💺 After its brief but successful racing career, this Frazer Nash was stowed away for nearly 60 years, only to emerge from hibernation upon discovery in 2018.

🌟 Freshly restored by marque expert Patrick Blakeney-Edwards to its 1952 Sebring livery, FN160 has yet to be shown or raced since its glory days in the 1950s, presenting a world of opportunity for foremost vintage competition events to its next owner.

HEUER MONACO REF. 1133B: Owned and screened by Steve Mcqueen in Le Mans 1969

• Caliber: cal. 11 automatic, 20 jewels
• Case: stainless steel, solid case back
• Case number: 160’304
• Size: 40 mm width
• Signed: case, dial, and movement
• Accessories: Tag Heuer travel case, letter attesting its authenticity and provenance personally signed by Bevan Weston, an additional special steel bracelet fitted for the watch during the production of Le Mans

🎩 It is the Heuer Monaco reference 1133B worn by Steve McQueen during the filming of his passion project ‘Le Mans’;

🚀 When the production of ‘Le Mans’ wrapped in autumn of 1970, the props got distributed and sold. A young mechanic by the name of Bevan Weston, who was there to support Derek Bell and his number 8 Ferrari, decide to investigate.

🔭 At the props office he got a Solar Productions jacket and some Gulf overalls, when his eyes landed on the watches. Enquiring how much they were and the person responsible said they were for sale for $40, so Weston chose a blue Monaco just like McQueen had been wearing, with a metal bracelet attached.

Throughout the succeeding decades, as photographs attest, Weston wore the Monaco. In 2010, he sold it to an anonymous collector, who is the Sotheby’s consigner.

ROLEX COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA REF. 126529LN: A limited edition to celebrate 100th Anniversary of “Le Mans”

• Year: 2023
• Material: 18K White Gold
• Size: 40mm
• Case No: 159Z8743
• Movement: Cal. 4132
• Bracelet: 18K white gold Rolex Oyster bracelet, max overall length 205mm
• Buckle/Clasp: 18K white gold Rolex deployant clasp, stamped KV6

⏱️ At Watches & Wonders 2023, Rolex released an all-new, updated version of the Cosmograph Daytona in celebration of the 100th anniversary of Le Mans: the reference 126529LN.

🚅 Instantly coveted, the “Le Mans” Daytona featured the updated movement and case architecture of the new standard production Daytonas, with a cheeky red flair to the ‘100’ on the bezel and matte white Art-Deco style subdials so evocative of the legendary exotic, “Paul Newman”-style dials of manually-wound Daytonas.

📌 Additionally, it was fitted not with the new caliber 4131, but the 4132, replacing the 12-hour counter for 24 hours – another clin d’oeil referencing the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

🤡 But less than a year later, Rolex would abruptly discontinue the reference 126529LN, resulting in an extremely limited production run.

ROLEX MONOMETER REF. 6202: One of the rarest pre-Submariner

• Brand: Rolex, Switzerland
• Model: monometer
• Reference: 6202
• Year: 1953
• Case No.: 949579
• Diameter: 36
• Caliber: A260, 19 jewels
• Signature: Dial, Case and movement signed
• Accessories: spare original crystal

🎩 The Monometer is considered one of the rarest pre-Submariners based on a new reference the 6202 that would become the Turn-o-graph. These were launched almost simultanously alongside some of the earliest Submariners reference 6204 that features some of the same characteristics and also with the unusual Sub-Aqua name.

🚀 Rolex registers the brand name Mono-Meter in June 1953 and the first examples are released immediately as the caseback indicates a production of III.53. Made in 2 separate versions, one with a honeycomb dial and the other such as this example featuring a regular dial but both have the split name Oyster Perpetual on the dial. These also have a very distinctive bezel only found on these early Monometers with a bezel featuring minute markers all around and the early pencil and lollipop hands.

🔭 From the known examples above, one can immediately notice how close the case numbers are indicating a very small production (some scholars believe less than one hundred) and probably one of the rarest known pre-Submariners ever made. Unknown to the market, this example was found recently in the UK and has remained untouched from its origin, still featuring the original bezel, hands and an immediate reaction to the Geiger counter.
