Hong Kong oboist Hoting Tsui, currently based in Europe, has been pursuing his musical studies in France and Germany after secondary education in Hong Kong. Now, as he marks his graduation, he will join hands with his longtime friend and pianist Zac Leung who graduated in the United States to present an oboe recital.
Tilted “Reeding the Contracts”, This recital features works by Telemann, Schumann, Sancan, Skalkottas, Holliger, and Hersant. It will take the audience on a journey through the Baroque period to Romantic and modern styles, beautifully illustrating the emotional depth of the oboe across diverse musical landscapes.

Tenor Haohan Yu (Beijing) and pianist Monica Tang (Hong Kong) met in Vienna at the University of Music and Performing Arts. Together, they bring to Hong Kong a Viennese Liederabend: an intimate evening of storytelling through art song.

The program centers around Love, featuring Schumann’s Liederkreis Op. 24, German art songs by Wolf and Strauss, the lyrical beauty of English songs by Quilter, beloved Chinese melodies, and a Cantonese art song “Queries to the Moon” by local composer Prof. Kai-Young Chan.

Renowned for its warm, rich, and resonant tone, the tenor saxophone possesses an allure equal to, if not surpassing, that of other saxophones, yet it remains rarely showcased as a solo instrument in concert settings.

As a classical saxophonist dedicated to mastery across all registers with equal artistic refinement and personal interpretation, Alvin Wong is going to unveil the often overlooked beauty and expressive depth inherent in the tenor saxophone.

From meditative clarinet-solo strokes of Bennett’s Sonatina and Fung’s Lonesome, to abstract brushes of Fung’s specially dedicated piece Two Miniatures (world premiere), the duo leads you through mournful colours of lyricism with Busoni’s Elegie and Bennett’s Ballad, before bringing splashes of joy through Bernstein’s and Horovtiz’s jazz-infused virtuosity.

Beethoven - Cello Sonata No. 4 in C major, op. 102 no. 1
Brahms - Violin Sonata No. 2 in A major, op. 100
Beethoven - Piano Trio No. 5 in D major, op. 70 No. 1 “Ghost”

When great composers give in to the fancies of their creative spirit, masterpieces are born. In this programme, Jeremy, Aaron and Thomas delve into the fantastical worlds conjured by two great German composers, Beethoven and Brahms.

Beethoven indulges in a raw and personal musical language in his Fourth Cello Sonata even as he continues to break formal boundaries. Brahms’ Second Violin Sonata shows what pure and blissful love sounds like, while Beethoven’s “Ghost” Trio is a tour de force whose nickname comes from the ghostly and eerie sound world evoked in the second movement.

當偉大的作曲家們臣服於靈感的綺思，曠世傑作便翩然降臨。在這場音樂饗宴中，Jeremy, Aaron 和Thomas 將引領我們神遊兩位德意志樂聖——貝多芬與布拉姆斯筆的世界。

This April, we were privileged to host Prof. Christian Forshaw (Guildhall School of Music & Drama) for the concert - "ON FIRE: The Heart & Passion of the Saxophone"

The evening wove together a rich tapestry of works, from Christian's deeply personal "The Wanderer" (composed in memory of a dear friend) to the fiery brilliance of Dave Heath's "On Fire", with each piece revealing new dimensions of the instrument's voice and musical possibilities.

Thank you, Christian, for an unforgettable evening of music and emotion. 🎷✨
