Exploring The Future of Hong Kong: Northern Metropolis🌟

The Austrian Trade Commission Hong Kong team visited Northern Metropolis - a new development area that will accommodate 2.5 million people, addressing the city's housing shortage while driving the innovation and technology sector. Located near Shenzhen, it will improve connectivity, enable seamless commuting and strengthen ties with the Greater Bay Area. By 2032, 40% of the Northern Metropolis will be completed!

Here's what we explored in Northern Metropolis 🔍

The Loop: An immersive exhibition and rooftop view of Shenzhen and Hong Kong - a true demonstration of cross-border collaboration.

Kwu Tung North: An on-site update on the progress of the new development area from the Project Manager of the Construction and Development Department.

Long Valley Nature Park: Exploring bird hides and water treatment wetlands with the Senior Nature Park Officer of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department.

🎉✨ Today, we had a heartfelt celebration for our colleague Terry, who is retiring after an incredible 26 years at the Austrian Trade Commission in Hong Kong.

To honour Terry’s remarkable journey, our Trade Commissioner baked a delicious Sacher cake, and we raised a toast with Austrian prosecco, celebrating the many contributions Terry has made to our team and the community.

As a token of our appreciation, we gifted Terry a travel voucher to Austria and wished him all the best in his new adventures!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who celebrated with us at the ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Christmas Party yesterday! It was a joyous evening filled with festive spirit, featuring delicious Austrian mulled wine and meatloaf , complemented by delightful Christmas cookies catered by Stefan Gross from Blue Danube Gourmet.

We truly enjoyed connecting with our Austrian business community, and the enchanting carols from the Salvation Army made the night even more special.

Christmas spirit in Hong Kong! Last week our team came together with the amazing team of Blum to bake traditional Austrian Christmas cookies.

The aroma of freshly baked cookies filled the air as we worked together, and it was satisfying to see our creations take shape. It was a great way to bond while learning new recipes and sharing some laughs. Many thanks to the great team at Blum and the amazing kitchen we were allowed to use.

From October 27-30, we witnessed the incredible impact of the HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair, a renowned marketplace showcasing cutting-edge lighting products from around the globe. This year, exhibitors from 37 countries came together, with strong representation from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Taiwan, the UK, the USA, and Germany.

A standout participant was Astria GmbH, founded in 2012 by Andreas Steiner and Andreas Müller. Their mission to connect European companies with Asian markets has proven invaluable, allowing firms to benefit from competitive Asian procurement prices under European standards. With a talented team of over 80, Astria has successfully executed more than 500 projects, showcasing their commitment to excellence.

During the fair, we had the pleasure of meeting Georg Scharrer, Head Consultant for Business Development, and Tony Yang, Managing Partner at AGS Group. Their dedication to supporting Austrian businesses in Hong Kong is commendable and vital for fostering international collaboration.

It was Wine and Dine again! Attendees did not miss out on the opportunity to discover Austrian delights at Wine and Dine!

At Booth B044, they enjoyed the energizing effects of Bull, the iconic energy drink that gave them wings!

At Booth B117, they savoured the unique flavours of Liquor and Liquor.

At Booth B026-B027, they elevated their wine experience with glasses, which enhanced the flavour of their wine. Riedel offered a tasting experience in both Cantonese and English.
