Join CM Chan and Chloe Feng this Saturday on Trending China!

This week, we explore the powerful cinematic portrayal of one of history's darkest chapters - the 1937 Nanjing Massacre. While stories of this harrowing event have been told before, a new film, titled 'Dead To Rights' , has captivated audiences and shattered box office records on the mainland, raking in nearly three billion yuan since its release in late July. Directed by Shen Ao, ‘Dead To Rights’ offers a meticulously crafted glimpse into wartime Nanjing, seen through the eyes of a group of civilians hiding in a local photo studio. So what makes this movie such a success? What sets this portrayal apart from previous ones? CM Chan and Chloe Feng will discuss this with Kenny Ng, an associate professor at Baptist University’s academy of film.
