Recently, we had a trip to Italy Kasama namin ang mga kids , my son, Mikhail at 2 years old and 9 months and Micah at 5 months.
During the whole trip, they had cough na akala namin is from the cold lang kasi ang lamig talaga sa Italy that time. Pero they started having fever and at one point, nag 39.5 degrees celsius si Mikhail so their Lola suggested we go to the hospital na.
On january 26, 2 days before we fly back, we brought Mikhail to the emergency room of the nearest hospital we can find. Wala na sa isip namin if mare-reimburse ba namin ito sa health insurance or travel insurance namin . We just wanted to be sure and our son to be safe.
We arrived there in the evening around 8-9 pm.
In the emergency room, they asked for Mikhailโs passport. A few minutes later, somebody from pediatrics already assisted us to their department.
We waited siguro about an hour or so , kasi may iba pang kids. Whey they called us, good thing that the doctor speaks English. She started asking questions and checked Mikhail . She told us Mikhail was โgenerally wellโ but since he has a fever, she wants to rule out other things pa.
Before we got down for the tests she ordered, they tried to make Mikhail drink paracetamol but he vomitted so she ordered a suppository paracetamol.
After that, inassist pa kami ng nurse to the radiology department and it took only 10-15 min. After that, they asked us to wait for the results.
Ang nagtagal lang kami is yung blood test , pero yung xray nakuha din agad and submitted sa doctor. We waited for maybe around another hour or two.
After waiting, the doctor told us Mikhail has pneumonia. Pero hindi naman daw alarming since he is well naman. She ordered antibiotics right away which was administered din agad, and asked us to come back the next day at 4 pm for another antibiotic injection.
So lahat ng ginawa sa kanya:
1. swabbed Mikhail for a bacterial infection in the throat
2. xray
3. blood test
4. Swineruhan sya at nagadminister ng antibiotics
Before we went back to the hotel, tinanong ko magkano babayaran kasi diba usually dito sa atin, bago ka makalabas ng hospital need mo magbayad.
So we got back to the hotel and went back the next day.
When we went back, iba na yung doctor pero he is aware of Mikhailโs treatment plan based on the document that was given to us by the doctor previously. Pero this time, we also brought Micah for checking kasi nagstart din sya ubuhin.
He did a check up on Micah and found nothing wrong naman. Then he proceeded with Mikhailโs injection. He also gave us the prescribed oral antibiotics that we need to buy to continue the treatment and some probiotics for Micah. Binigay na rin nila samin ung CD ng xray ni Mikhail and also the blood test results.
After that, ready na kami magbayad pikit mata na nga lang sabi ng asawa ko kasi tubig pa lang dito ang mahal mahal na . Pano pa ang ospital? ๐
But when we asked the nurse, she said no need to pay anything. Nagtataka kami, so we asked the doctor too. Then he said , wala daw talagang babayaran.
Di talaga kami makapaniwala. I wanted to be EXTRA sure kaya pinakita ko ulit yung papel namin sa Info desk nila. She checked the documents and she said no fees. Naisip ko na, so i asked, โIs this a public hospital?โ
So ayun, sa public hospital nga kami nakapunta.
Pero we were so surprised na with that kind of experience eh wala kaming babayaran.
Ang binili lang namin is yung prescription lang which is around 36 euros.
We even experienced this as a TOURIST lang.
Tingin nyo, kaya pa ba natin maachieve yung ganitong klaseng healthcare?
