The Fuyun Xuan Collection is one of the most comprehensive and renowned private collections of Chinese s***f bottles in the world. Established in 1989 by the late Hong Kong collector Christopher Sin, these 490 sets of s***f bottles provide a window into the artistry, craftsmanship, and cultural significance of Chinese s***f bottles spanning over three centuries. Master ceramic artist Solan Chiu has spent years forming her unique style. She invents new ways to treat surfaces by using unexpected tools, bringing together old Chinese traditions and modern ideas. Her practice is deeply personal and comparable to writing a biography using clay and glaze instead of a pen. Solan’s artistic journey has been deliberate, from functional pottery to sculptures and large-scale installations. She remains curious, playful, and fiercely independent, all qualities that accumulated through four decades as a self-taught artist.

Pablo Picasso is a name that instantly evokes genius, innovation, and controversy. Born in Málaga, Spain, in 1881, he carried the spirit of his homeland wherever he went. Whether in Paris or on the sunlit shores of the French Riviera, traces of Spain always surfaced in his work. Picasso: Beauty and Drama exhibition at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort in Macau tells the story of the artist’s Spanish heritage which profoundly influenced his art and life. Picasso’s life was complex and passionate: he ardently fought for peace, fervently pursued his muses, and unapologetically embraced the bloodsport of bullfighting. Somehow, all these influences found their way onto ceramics, lithographs and canvases.

The film Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In depicts the City of Darkness as a main character, a gritty, raw, and nuanced place for an action-packed narrative in the finest Hong Kong-styled film tradition. The shared hardships experienced by the characters in the movie remind us that even the darkest places can bring out the best in people. The movie stirred nostalgia and curiosity for the now-demolished Kowloon Walled City. The exhibition, Kowloon Walled City: A Cinematic Journey Movie Set, features eight rooms displaying remakes of the movie sets alongside authentic relics, provides a sense of what old Hong Kong was like.

A tour of a congested floating market in Thailand gave Elaine Crebo ample time to absorb the lively ambience, picturesque with boat women selling mounds of tropical fruit while stationary vessels were laden with wooden bowls, embroidered handbags and shimmering gilt statues for sale. She recently spent time in Bangkok and confirms that the magic of Thailand’s market is more than the tangible; it is about the playful ambience of being part of something bigger. At the infamous Chatuchak, the world’s largest weekend market, she found a unique, vibrant community of peddlers and buyers.

In just over ten years, Vincent van Gogh created thousands of paintings and drawings. The creative genius of the iconic artist Vincent is legendary. His brief life and the drama surrounding his last years provide tremendous material for books, movies, and speculation. He was prodigiously productive during the last years of his life while living in Arles in southern France, spending his days painting sunflowers, landscapes and portraits of the local people. He created some of his most innovative works at this time, including a set of portraits of the family of his friend, postman Joseph Roulin. In a seminal exhibition, the original paintings, ancillary works, and personal letters are on show to provide insights into Vincent’s artistic development and relationship with the Roulin family.
