Trump Survives Assassination Attempt at Rally; Suspected Gunman Killed
The former president said he felt bullet rip through his ear; one spectator was killed and two others were critically injured after shots were fired
Amid the confusion surrounding the shooting, the mourning for the one fatality in the crowd, and the concern for former President Donald Trump, one thing is clear: This could have been a lot worse. There hasn’t been a presidential assassination in 60 years.
“We came millimeters away from losing former President Trump to an assassination,” said former Secret Service agent Jonathan Wackrow on CNN. “ That cannot happen ever again,” he said, saying the Secret Service will need to figure out what went wrong and how the shooter was able to take a clear shot at the former president.
