A violent fire broke out this Monday, May 26, 2025 at the PluxOtel on Cap-Haïtien boulevard, ravaging a large part of the establishment and affecting the neighboring Barik restaurant. No fatalities were reported, but material losses were high. According to the fire department, a conduction problem could be to blame. This incident once again darkens the news in the Christophian city.

Today marks the 223rd anniversary of the Haitian flag. To mark the occasion, the Haitian government, the « Conseil présidentiel de transition » and local authorities gathered in Cap-Haïtien to take part in official ceremonies.

Early this morning, a solemn flag-raising ceremony took place in the Place d’Armes, to the sound of the National Palace brass band. The authorities took part in this symbolic act, watched by many citizens gathered for the event.

Parades and various cultural events are scheduled this afternoon to mark this day of national pride.
