Such a warm and personal letter to Ted Gilmore about his book Franklin Field Saturdays which pays homage to the team and its rich history.
Thanks so much for sending the excellent book, Franklin Field Saturdays. Too bad Dad is not alive to enjoy it. He loved taking us there for football games and the Penn Relays Track Meet. I think you know that he was a member of the Penn Track Team and competed there often.
I specifically remember being at one of the disappointing losses to Dartmouth that Ted describes so well. I recall my reaction was “How can the great Penn lose to Dartmouth.”
One thing he said that I believe is absolutely correct: Franklin Field is the best place anywhere to watch a football game. No matter where you sit, the game always seemed right in front of me. Thanks again for the wonderful read.
