Jenna and Ramon from Florida: one more proof how international is the US. Both of them have European ancestors: Czech, south Slavic, moreover Ramon found some Mongolian origin in his DNA. Mark arrived from Texas to us, my ex university room mate from Huston recommended to him. (Thanks !) We talked a lot about the Hungarian language, especially the difficulty of learning it. Well, I found a map ranking the difficulty of European languages, and Hungarian is on the top with the wish "Good luck!" 😅 But did you know, that some Hungarian words got into the English, as well? A nation can exist until people keep the traditions. I'm proud to have learned the secrets of Hungarian kitchen from my grandmas and mum, and have the chance to showcase them to open minded people from all around the world at . Easter milk loaf, smoked ham, painted eggs, boys visiting and "watering" girl relatives and friends, these are the Hungarian Easter traditions. Hope we can forward it to our children. We hosted an 8 member company from the US, organized by one of them having Hungarian roots. For me it's amazing to keep together friendship from Virginia and Washington state and organize common trips to Europe! But this 4 couples regularly travels together, and they had great time in Budapest. We were asked to offer beef stew, as well, so Zoli cooked it with red wine, of course. By the end of the dinner it turned out, that the Hungarian guy's parents run a Hungarian restaurant in Virginia for 20 years. He spilled the beans that his favourite was the stuffed cabbage. 😋 🍲🍷🇭🇺

We had a kitchen-girl from Connecticut. 😍 Siena, the three year old cute princess helped Zoli in the kitchen, she was responsible for the pancake mixing. The result was perfect, and she was proud of her first Hungarian dish. Happy to present Hungary, our culture, way of life and gastronomy to these nice couples from US. 🍲🍷🇭🇺

Have you ever heard about the ? We regularly host in Jewish guests like these nice couples from Texas and San Francisco, US, looking for their European roots and being open for Budapest Jewish heritage. Well, I'm quite proud to show them exciting, hidden memorials from Budapest: the Stolpersteine. These are small shiny bronze plaques commemorating the victims of the N**i regime. You can find cca 70.000 pieces in Europe (500 in Hungary) on pavements in front of different doors, with the name and date of deportation of a person from that building. I think we need every reminder of tragical eras of history in order to avoid similar periods! 🍲🍷🇭🇺

Canada rulez!
We have a quite busy month behind us, hosting nice and cute guests. Surprisingly 3 groups arrived from Canada: two ex cop girls arrived from British Columbia, a nice couple from Quebec (the husband seemed to be the soul mate of Zoli as being an offline photographer and still taking photos with analogue camera) and two couples from Lake Erie, celebrating birthday. I have to admit that Canadians are so open minded and curious of Hungary. They also tasted the Dobos cake at , one of the great Hungaricums! 🍲🍷🇭🇺

This time we were hosted! Let me introduce and promote Triflafarm , a gorgeous experience where we have spent a nice afternoon last weekend. The program includes presentation of different types of truffle, the farm and the project, truffle hunting with special dogs (see cute Csella on the picture found 5 nice truffles in 20 minutes) and tasting high-level dishes made with special spice. The truffle-cult just comes back to the Hungarian gastronomy after it was banned during the Communist Era. It was too exclusive and high-end. We do appreciate Mónika's and Tamas' great job to develop this exclusive gastronomy program and whish them lots of local and foreign guests! Let's build the country image together! 🍲🍷🇭🇺

We gained new fans for Hungary and Hungarian food! Our last guest company arrived from Boston, US, with super openness to our country, culture and way of life. After spending a nice evening at we became real friends. The most interesting topic was the life in communist era, which we had a compehensive presentation about, with personal experience from pioneer camps and regime change. Moreover Zoli made a triple flip with the pancake for the firs time!💪🍲🍷🇭🇺
