🎬 Every studio knows this: the toughest shots are often the ones that look the most effortless.

When Platige Image asked us to handle the door demolition FX for the Call of Duty: Vanguard & Warzone Season 2 cinematic trailer, we knew it was one of those shots. On screen, it lasts seconds. Behind the scenes? Weeks of iteration, simulation tuning, and syncing with the story’s rhythm.
That’s the paradox of visual effects: if we’ve done our job right, the audience never notices the work - they just feel the impact.

D2 Conferences landed in Budapest 🚀 and it didn’t disappoint!

On the first weekend of September, D2, one of the most renowned archviz events, made its debut in Budapest
(budapest.d2conferences.com) - and it was an honor for us to be part of this special edition. Our CEO, Gábor Marinov, spoke about how AI is reshaping the world of animation and VFX: accelerating workflows, opening new creative opportunities, but also raising difficult questions about the future of our craft.

Within the framework of D2, the CAD’Oro Architectural Animation Film Festival also took place, showcasing some truly inspiring works. When we first sat down with the brief for Magic: The Gathering – Innistrad, one question stood out:
How do you make fabric feel alive in a world steeped in Gothic atmosphere?

Our team’s task was to give weight and realism to Tim and Jerren through advanced cloth simulation. Every fold, every ripple in motion needed to support the characters’ presence - not just as models on screen, but as figures in a haunting story.

Collaborating with the brilliant artists at Axis Studios pushed us to raise the bar. The result? A trailer where craft, detail, and storytelling come together to create something hauntingly real.

Because, of course, the renderer crashed.

Without light, a scene is just sad, floating polygons. But when shadows stretch, colors pop, and depth returns, suddenly, there's a story.
Lighting isn’t just a step in the pipeline - it’s where choices become feelings, and renders become reality.
In animation, we often focus on the big things -characters, arcs, worlds. But often, it’s the smallest element - a well-placed shadow or soft glow - that makes a scene resonate emotionally.

Múlt héten újra összegyűltünk, hogy folytassuk AI + mozgókép közösségi estjeinket – és most sem kellett csalódnunk. A generatív képi- és videómodellek működésében merültünk el, gyakorlati példákon keresztül.

A technikai mélység után most is kötetlen beszélgetéssel zártuk az estét: szó volt lehetőségekről, kihívásokról, etikai kérdésekről – de szóba került az is, hogyan lehet érvényeset mondani vizuálisan egy olyan világban, ahol a képek és videók előállítása egyre gyorsabb és elérhetőbb. Inspiráló este volt, új arcokkal és visszatérő vendégekkel, közös gondolkodás, és egy teljesen váratlan Ozzy Osborne tribute is belefért (ha ott voltál, tudod😉).

Köszönjük mindenkinek, aki eljött – szakmailag is, közösségileg is sokat jelent, hogy ennyien érdeklődtök a generatív vizuális eszközök iránt. Folyamatosan tanulunk, együtt.

🎤 Hey (not just) Archviz folks!

Big news from the Moonrock crew: our CEO, Gábor Marinov, will be speaking at the renowned 𝐃𝟐 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐯𝐢𝐳 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 — and this year, it’s happening in 𝗕𝘂𝗱𝗮𝗽𝗲𝘀𝘁, in September! 🏙️

Gábor will be talking about something that’s been on our minds for a while: how AI is not only changing the way we create animation and VFX, but also how we tell stories, structure workflows, and think about creativity itself.

It’s exciting — and yes, a little unsettling. We’re in a moment where the tools we use are evolving faster than we sometimes know how to process. But that’s exactly why spaces like D2 matter. They give us the chance to slow down, talk face to face, and ask the bigger questions.

Múlt kedden az online közösséget a valós térbe költöztettük: a Magyar Gépmesék - AI animáció és film közösség első offline találkozóján animátorok, filmesek és kíváncsi technológusok gyűltek össze a Perspective Barban.

▶️ A programot az „AI & Animáció: egy elkerülhetetlen forradalom küszöbén” című előadásunk vetítésével indítottuk, mely a KAFF 2025 egyik legtöbbet vitatott prezentációja volt. Ezt követően a teremben őszinte, olykor provokatív beszélgetés bontakozott ki arról, hogyan formálják már most a generatív eszközök a szakmánkat - és miként navigálhatjuk együtt ezt a változást.

Az est különlegességét nem a prezentáció adta, hanem az emberek: szárnyaltak az ötletek, felszínre kerültek az aggodalmak, új együttműködések születtek. Látni, ahogy ez az online kezdeményezés offline gondolkodóműhellyé válik, emlékeztetett bennünket a nyitott, befogadó és gyakorlatorientált párbeszéd fontosságára.

Május 28-án a 40 éves 𝗞𝗲𝗰𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗺𝗲́𝘁𝗶 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮́𝗰𝗶𝗼́𝘀 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘇𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮́𝗹 keretében lehetőségünk volt megszervezni a 𝗠𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲́𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮 𝗲́𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮́𝗰𝗶𝗼́ 𝗸𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮́𝘁, mely során egy teljes délutánt végigbeszélgettünk arról, hogyan alakítja át a mesterséges intelligencia a film és az animáció világát.

On May 28, as part of the 40th 𝗞𝗲𝗰𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗺𝗲́𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗺 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹, we had the opportunity to organize the 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, where we spent an inspiring afternoon discussing how AI is transforming the world of film and animation.

🧠💥 The event was filled with exciting presentations, honest questions, and vibrant professional dialogue.

Without light, a scene is just sad, floating polygons. But then—boom! 💥 Shadows stretch. Colors pop. Depth returns. Suddenly, there’s a story.
Because light isn’t just illumination—it’s emotion. Without it, there is no story—just a very expensive wireframe.

History doesn’t just repeat itself. Sometimes, it gets a full VFX makeover.

We’re proud to share Moonrock's work on Rise of the Raven, one of the most ambitious European TV productions ever made:

Our task? Build 15th-century Rome, Milan, Vienna, and a garden in Edirne so realistic you'd expect to catch a sunburn just looking at them. 😎 We laid every stone, carved every arch, and planted every rose... digitally. From sprawling cities to serene courtyards, we crafted the details with painstaking care — and only slightly dreamed about inventing a time machine to gather authentic textures... but apparently, that's not billable yet.
