Prae - the publisher - a kiadó
Prae Publishing releases 10 to 14 titles per year by contemporary Hungarian authors, including novels, poetry anthologies and works of literary theory. For us, literary and popular fiction as not mutually exclusive. Our series ‘Crime Today’ aims to revive the Hungarian and Central European crime novel, with one or two annual releases. Those published so far are set in Hungary, Germany and 18th century Koper (now Slovenia). The fictionalized cultural-historical trilogy by Tamás P. Horváth portrays the Zsolnay family, whose ceramics have been universally recognized since the 19th century. Prae’s authors readily tackle today’s major social concerns such as immigration, women’s rights, domestic abuse and gender issues. In our theoretical books, we have a focus on world literature, with works on, for example, on Bret Easton Ellis, and we have created a platform for current philosophical and aesthetic trends. Hungary’s comprehensive introduction to post-humanism was also released by Prae Publishing. The quarterly literary magazine Prae, and the prae.hu online arts portal are loosely connected to the publishing house.
A Prae Kiadó évi 10-14 kötettel jelentkezik kortárs magyar szerzőktől: regények, verseskötetek és elméleti munkák. A művészi és a populáris regiszter nem egymást kizáró tényező a kiadó számára sem. A „Krimi ma” sorozat célja a magyar és közép-európai bűnregény, krimi megújítása évenként egy-két kötet megjelentetésével – az eddigiek Magyarországon, Németországban vagy a 18. századi Capodistriában (ma Szlovénia) játszódnak. Korszerű műveltségregényekben mutatja be a kerámiáiról népszerű Zsolnay-család történetét. Szerzői bátran nyúlnak társadalmi kérdésekhez: migráció, női jogok, családon belüli erőszak, genderproblémák. Világirodalmi vonatkozásokra is figyel, és a kurrens filozófiai-esztétikai irányzatoknak is teret ad: a poszthumanizmus átfogó magyarországi bemutatása is a Prae Kiadónál történt meg.
