After a decade of wonder and intrigue, the exile comes to a bitter end. Go loud and violent. How you tore your way into existence tooth and nail, choked by the umbilical cord, clawing through blood and placenta until the first cry tore itself from your barely-formed lungs. The self's revelation. This is your voice: terror answering terror. Your mere existence serves as retribution. Audiophile wreckage. You diminish life by simply being in it. You take food from my mouth. You bend my back. Listen to decay, the universe’s only true word. In the new order, there is no need for the spirit of defiance. You stood your ground. Time for you to leave.

Natalie Szende is a Berlin–Budapest-based electroacoustic composer and sound artist. In 2026, she received the Carmen Mateu European Young Artist Award as part of a collective, and in the same year she graduated from the Liszt Academy of Music. A year earlier, her multichannel piece LLBY was awarded a scholarship to the IRCAM Academy through the Ulysses Network and was presented at Centquatre-Paris. Szende has worked as a composer and sound designer on her first theatre productions at Deutsches Theater Berlin and Trafó House of Contemporary Arts. She also composed the score for the animated film Adgwa Ata, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in 2026.

vvvvv is her debut EP on EXILES.

Natalie Szende’s vvvvvv voyages through veils of perception. Verging between dark ambient, IDM and fractured rhythms, with a vein for both composing and sound design, Szende draws listeners into the vortex of the five tracks: volva (to cover, femininity), velāmenta (veil), vox (voice), volatilis (flying) and virtus (courage, masculinity). On her sonic ventures, Szende wanders a varied yet remarkably coherent soundscape, echoing femininity and virtue, emergence and collapse, existing in a cohesive interplay of contradiction.
