Are you doing this too?

Of course you are, because you’re a human and that’s how our brains work.

Keep doing that in your human to human conversations, but if you want your Al to respond more accurately, don’t overdo that in Al.

Which, by the way, is why I have this kind of back and forth with myself and real people before I ever go to Al.

Want to make sure that watermark is gone?

No tech trick or AI tool is going to solve for it.

The only thing that will is making sure YOUR words are the ones chosen.

And that is how I’ve always worked with AI and why I’m not at all worried about this watermark.

The most woo AI advice you’ll ever hear? Maybe.

And yes, you’re probably thinking this would take way too much time, and AI is supposed to save you time.

You’re also probably thinking this wouldn’t work for code. It would, but I haven’t even begun digging into the impacts on code yet. That’s coming.

Here’s what I know DOESN’T work:

You can’t copy paste into a note or text file and have the watermark disappear

There isn’t an AI that removes the watermark (not yet, but I’m sure it’s coming. I’m also sure it’ll make your writing worse).

Using a HUMANIZER skill that gets rid of AI tells won’t work (though it is a great skill to have, and I have a great one).

Literally the only thing we can be sure will work is making sure your words are the words used.

And that doesn’t mean you need to hand write everything. (Though honestly, if you’re not actually writing at least a portion of your content, you probably would benefit from a reminder of what that’s like so you recognize your own stylistic choices).

What it does mean is that if you come to AI with thoughts formulated by you, in your words (transcripts are best), and you know how to prompt AI to make sure it’s using your word choices, and then you let AI do its thing, AND THEN you read the work aloud so your body can tell you what your brain will want to miss because of a lot of nuance around what AI might or might not be tricking you into believing…

If you do all this, you will eradicate the watermark. AND you will have better output.

And it doesn’t actually take that long once you get into the practice of doing it.

Voice first AI is about more than speaking to your AI or using transcripts.

(Although transcripts are a great place to work from)

But for me, voice first means knowing that your voice is a priority.

The method I’m describing in this video is one I’ve been using for years to make sure my content and the content I write for others is undetectable.

But then Claude came in and said that everything that goes through its system will carry a watermark. And while I can’t figure out how on earth that would be the case if it isn’t selecting words…

It’s also not that time-consuming to edit word choices outside of AI. (Or just not care if your content is marked as having been through AI)

And yes, I know that AI is supposed to be a time saver and reading word aloud feels super time consuming.

It can be. But it is absolutely worth the time to make sure you stand out and show up as you.

Ok I lied…

There are more than two types of people freaking about the AI watermarking. But the two I want to focus on today are:

The AI bashers and the covert AI users.

But so much of this conversation is clouded in misinformation, both accidentally and intentionally.

I’m here to view the facts, the perspectives, and keep the conversation real. If that’s something you enjoy, I hope you hit the follow button.

More reasons to hate on AI….

Misinformed opinions are all over social media. That’s the nature of the beast. I’ve seen so much half-truth around the Claude watermark debate.

What it’s showing me is that there are people who will take any excuse to AI bash, and also people who are terrified because they have been using AI poorly and now people will know. But will they?

And what does knowing really mean, in the grand scheme of things?

One thing I know for sure is there are still a lot of questions, and I prefer to keep asking them and exploring. If you agree, I hope you’ll give me a follow.

I’m pro AI. I’m also a lifelong creative person obsessed with storytelling. Both can be true. In fact, to be great at AI, I think both HAVE to be true.

People are freaking out.

And there are some serious concerns that I’ll get into in other videos.

But I think it’s important that people understand what is happening with things before they jump to conclusions and assumptions.

Watermarking of AI output has been happening for much longer than people have been screaming about it on the internet. It’s just that now there is legislation that has made it take center stage in the media.

Anthropic (Claude) is doing more than the legislation requires. And I’ll get into that another day too.
