Indonesia will ban the entry of travellers who have been in eight African countries and extend quarantine times for all arrivals to curb the spread of the new Omicron coronavirus variant.

The ban extends to people who have been in South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Mozambique, Eswatini or Nigeria in the past 14 days. Any Indonesian nationals who have traveled to those countries will be required to quarantine for 14 days on arrival.

In the meantime Bali Governor I Wayan Koster has informed Bali travel industries to be more patient in regards to the opening Bali for international tourists due to the new variant of Covid Omicron.

Around 60% of people in Western Europe are fully immunized against COVID-19, but only about half as many are vaccinated in Eastern Europe.
