๐—š๐˜‚๐˜€๐˜๐—ฎ๐˜ƒ ๐—ฉ (1858-1950) was King of Sweden from 1907 until his death in 1950. He was the eldest son of King Oscar II of Sweden and Sophia of Nassau.

In 1881, Crown Prince Gustaf of Sweden was looking for a bride among the German kingdoms. Princess Victoria of Baden was also looking for a husband, but her weak health made her unattractive. Gustaf and Victoria married in 1881. The marriage was popular in Sweden where she was called "The Vasa Princess", because of her descent from the old Vasa dynasty. She and Gustaf were brought together by their families and their marriage was reported not to have been a happy one, but it produced three children. After 1889, the personal relationship between Victoria and Gustaf is considered to have been finished due to Victoriaโ€™s lovers and Gustafโ€™s bisexuality, but they remained friends and helped each other during their reign as king and queen.

Although Gustaf was king, Victoria dominated the court and helped him with almost everything, including his speeches as he had difficulties writing. Victoria had substantial political influence over her husband, who was often considered pro-German. During the first world war, she lost some popularity as she supported the Germans, and Gustaf later found himself in a scandal when he visited Adolf Hi**er during the second world war. Despite scandals, they were the couple that saved the Swedish monarchy from abolishment and gave the country democracy, despite their personal opinions about it.

Victoria died in 1930, and Gustaf continued to reign for another twenty years. He never remarried but rumourdly had at least one male lover. He died in 1950, and they both rest in Riddarholmen Church, Stockholm.

Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna of Russia and Zinaida Dimitrievna Skobelevna, Countess of Beauharnais posing for photographs together in St. Petersburg, 1880s.

Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna โ€the Elderโ€ (1854-1920), nรฉe Duchess Marie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, was a prominent hostess in Saint Petersburg following her marriage in 1874 to the Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich of Russia, she was known by many as the "grandest of the grand duchesses", known for grand parties at her court.

Zinaida Skobeleva (1856-1899) was a daughter of Olga Skobelevna and Dmitry Skobelev. She married Eugen Maximilianovich, 5th Duke of Leuchtenberg in 1878. Zinaida had a long time affair with Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich, brother of Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich, Maria's husband.

The Fleur-de-Lys is the most impressive tiara that the Spanish royal family possesses โ€” in fact, the longtime family nickname for the piece is โ€œLa Buena,โ€ or โ€œThe Good One.โ€ The first woman to wear it in public was Princess Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg, better known to history as Queen Ena of Spain. When she married King Alfonso XIII in 1906, this tiara was her gift from her new husband. The all-diamond diadem had been made for the new queen by Ansorena, and she wore it on her wedding day. It was an appropriate choice, as the fleur-de-lys motif that dominates the tiara is also the symbol of the House of Borbรณn.

Ena only lent out the tiara once in her life - to her daughter Mercedes, Countess of Barcelona. Had the revolutions and civil wars of the early twentieth-century not resulted in a temporary cessation of the monarchy in Spain, Marรญa Mercedes would have become queen in 1941. Instead, she and her husband, Infante Juan, never ascended to the throne; their son, Juan Carlos, would eventually become the next Spanish king.

When Ena died in 1969, she bequeathed the tiara to her son, earmarked specifically for the use of Spanish queens. The next wearer, accordingly, was Queen Sofia, the wife of King Juan Carlos. She has worn the tiara, which somehow manages to be both imposing and delicate at the same time, on important occasions throughout her husbandโ€™s reign. The new wearer is Queen Letitzia, Sofiaโ€™s daughter-in-law. Sheโ€™s worn the tiara on countless occasions and seems to be a personal favourite.

Margaret Victoria Charlotte Augusta Norah was born on the 15th January 1882 as the elder daughter of Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught, third son of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, and his wife Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia. She is the grandmother of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece.

๐Ÿ’Œ Here are some fun facts about the Flower Princess:
โ€ข โ€Daisyโ€, who was considered one of Europeโ€™s most beautiful princesses, met her future husband while travelling through Egypt in 1905.

โ€ข She was a dedicated mother, and was determined to spend time with them. She was not keen on letting them be raised by nursery staff.

โ€ข She spoke fluent Swedish only two years after her wedding and was totally devoted to her new homeland.

โ€ข Daisy took a great interest in many forms of sports. She even founded the first hockey team for women in Sweden in which she herself competed.

โ€ข She was also interested in art, and was an admirer of the works of Claude Monet. She photographed, painted, and took a great interest in gardening. She published several gardening books.

โ€ข During World War I, Margaret created a sewing society to support the Red Cross. She also acted as intermediary for relatives separated by the war. With her help, private letters and requests to trace men missing in action were passed on. She was also active in her work on behalf of prisoners.

โ€ข When the final steps towards full democracy were taken in Sweden, Margaret's positive attitude to reform influenced her husband the Crown Prince. Many believe that they were the ones that saved the monarchy.

Daisy died in 1920 from sepsis, pregnant with her sixth child. In announcing her death during traditional International Workers' Day celebrations, Swedish Prime Minister Hjalmar Branting said: "the ray of sunshine at Stockholm Palace has gone out". Rumours were spread in Britain that she had, in fact, died of su***de and unhappiness in Sweden.

Happy birthday, Daisy! ๐Ÿ’—

Empress Alexandra Feodorovna of Russia and her two eldest daughters Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna and Grand Duchess Tatiana Nikolaevna wearing nursing uniforms with their family friend Anna Vyrubova during World War I, winter 1914-1915.

In was during the beginning of the war that Empress Alexandra (1872-1918) and her two eldest daughters became nurses to care for soldiers from the war. Palace rooms were turned to infirmaries and the women started charity committees for the poor. For Olga (1895-1918), who was the elder, nursing did not come natural as her sensitivity and temperament made it difficult for her. Seeing dying, wounded men from the war took a toll on her mental health. According to Sophie Buxhoeveden, a lady-in-waiting of the Empress, "Olga had to give up nursing and instead only supervised the hospital wards because she had 'overtired herself' and became 'nervous and anaemic!"

For Tatiana (1897-1918), however, nursing came very natural. She was very similar to her maternal grandmother, Princess Alice, who was a skilles nurse herself; she nursed her father, Prince Albert, up to his death as well as her children when they got sick with diptheria. According to Anna Vyrubova, lady-in-waiting and close friend with Empress Alexandra, "Tatiana was almost as skillful and devoted as her mother, and complained only that on account of her youth she was spared some of the more trying cases."

Grand Duchess Anna Pavlovna Romanova was born as the eighth child and sixth daughter of Paul I of Russia and Empress Maria Feodorovna, nรฉe Sophie Dorothea of Wรผrttemberg. Her father became emperor in 1796, and was deposed and killed in 1801, when she was six years old. She was thus raised by her mother and had a great relationship with her brothers.

In 1816, Anna married the Prince of Orange, later King William II of the Netherlands. She was shocked over the differences between Russia and her new home country, as the distance between royalty and commoners as well as between the aristocracy and the rest of society was much more egalitarian. Despite five children together, their marriage was stormy. The adultery of her spouse created conflicts between them. During her time in Holland, she studied the Dutch language, history and culture, and founded more than fifty orphanages. She considered it her duty to fulfill her public role as a royal woman and charity was a part of this role. She became queen in 1840 and was described as dignified, proud and distant toward the public: she was never to be a popular queen. She was also a strongwilled character with a heated temperament, which could cause outbursts and result in her refusing to leave her rooms for days, referred to as her "nerves".

Anna remained a strong Russian patriot her entire life, and it has been said of her that she remained a Russian Grand Duchess more than she ever became Queen of the Netherlands. As a queen dowager, Anna left the royal palace, retired from court life and lived a private life. Her relationship with her son King William III was always tense and she once said contemptuously about him that he was happy to be a king of a constitutional empire. She considered returning to Russia after a conflict with her son in 1855, but in the end, she did not. She died in 1865, aged seventy, and rests in Nieuwe Kerk, Deft.

Consuls (ENFJs) are altruists. They take seriously their responsibilities to give back, serve others, and do the right thing. And Consuls believe that is a clear right thing to do in nearly every situation. While some personality types adopt a more lenient, live-and-let-live attitude, Consuls may find it difficult not to judge when someone takes a path that strikes them as misguided. As a result, Consuls often struggle to accept it when someone โ€“ particularly someone they care about โ€“ disagrees with them.

An Aquarius woman is an enigma, both to herself and to others. Freedom loving and highly individualistic, intelligent and dreamy, this woman is unlike any other woman you will ever come across. Aquarius women are natural black sheep. They donโ€™t fit into most groups and because of that, when they do find their people, they become extremely community-oriented. Finding their clique means finding their family, and they dedicate their lives to being around their people. As their ancient ruler Saturn suggests, Aquarius is a very loyal zodiac sign, sometimes to a fault. They are notable for being very observant and because of that, they recognize that the world is not rose-colored. They see things as they are.

Archduchess Caroline Josepha Leopoldine Franziska Ferdinanda was born as the third surviving child of Francis II, Holy Roman Emperor and Maria Theresa of Naples and Sicily. She had a great interest in literature, music, and nature. Her childhood was marked by a strict education, diverse cultural stimulation and successive wars that threatened her father's domains.

The marriage between Maria Leopoldina and Dom Pedro de Alcรขntara, Prince Royal of the United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves took place in 1817, but the marriage was based on politics rather than love. Upon her arrival in Brazil, the physical appearance of Maria Leopoldina surprised the Portuguese royal family, who were awaiting a beautiful Archduchess. Instead, she was overweight, though with a beautiful face. However, she was also extraordinarily cultured for her time, with a keen interest in botany. Despite a turbulent marriage, the couple had five children. As the friction between Portugal and Brazil unfolded, she became increasingly involved in the turmoil of political events that preceded the Independence of Brazil.

As a result of the Liberal Revolution, the court moved to Portugal in 1821. Maria Leopoldina became Brazil's first Empress consort, and due to Brazil's status as the only monarchy in South America, she was the first Empress of the New World. She was loved by all the Brazilian people, and her popularity was even greater and more expressive than that of Dom Pedro, "Do not oppress the poor. Be charitable. Do not complain about what God has given you, but improve your habits. We must strive earnestly to be good". Her death in 1826 is still a mystery, as some claim she died of sepsis while others mean she was abused to death by her husband. She was buried in the church of the Ajuda Convent.

Princess Tatiana Constanitovna Romanova was born as the first daughter of Grand Duke Konstantin Konstantinovich and Grand Duchess Elizaveta Mavrikievna. At the time it was not usual for a member of the Romanov family to have many daughters, so she was gladly accepted. She was close friends with Nicholas II's daughters, Olga and Tatiana, and was described as a "quiet girl", and was reported to have a talent for the piano. When she was young she enjoyed the company of animals.

In 1911, Tatiana became engaged to Prince Constantine Bagration of Mukhrani, a Georgian by birth who was serving in a Russian Imperial Guards regiment. She was to be the first daughter of the Romanovs to openly marry a Russian subject or non-dynastic prince since the dynasty ascended the throne. The marriage would produce one son and one daughter. During the summer of 1914 Tatiana participated in the ceremonies to welcome the President of France to Russia. After the outbreak of World War I, Konstantin enlisted in Russia's armed forces, and was killed in action in 1915. She became close to Elisabeth Feodorovna at the time, and refused to wear black at her husband's funeral. Two days after that, her father died, and her brother shortly after. After the revolution, she fled to Romania and Switzerland with her sister, mother, and children.

Tatiana remarried in 1921, but it didnโ€™t last long as her new husband Alexander died in shortly after. Tatiana raised her children alone, giving them the best education she possibly could, and, after both were grown and married, she took the veil, just after the end of the second World War, which was her father's dream. She later served as Abbess at the Mount of Olives Convent in Jerusalem, and died as Mother Tamara in 1979. She rests together with Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna in Jersusalem.
