Today's bonus image comes from Didcot Railway Centre, and is only seen on my Instagram feed. I'm certainly not an expert on rolling stock and wagons, maybe one of my fine followers can identify what substance this type of wagon carried?

A trio of Burlington Northern EMD SD40-2s in a helper set, shove hard on the rear of an eastbound BN coal train as they curve past Breezy Point west of Belmont on Nebraska's Crawford Hill on July 2, 1989. The fuel tender used in the set provides more time between refueling stops.

"Well it may have been August, back when they had passenger trains, we didn't need passports and we'd actually dare to go. It's hot as blazes and the crew is friendly. This unit has the special passenger herald, hand painted according to the engineer." 1987.

Four Union Pacific SD40-2's come

rolling off the Western Pacific causeway 3593, 3312, 3634, and 3472. How things have changed. The causeway was still really a causeway, Black Rock was still an island, and the water wasn't a quarter mile away from the track. Today the weeds are all grown up in this area. Plus the freeway has cement barricade all along here. If you do stop there is a chance the highway patrol is going to come pay you a visit. May 12th, 1985.

As the railroads that would become Family Lines became more closely coordinated, two pairs of run-through trains were initiated in 1973 that utilized the West Point Route (A&WP and WRofA) between Atlanta and Montgomery, AL.

Within a few weeks, cuts began to be added to the trains just for the segment between Atlanta and Montgomery (and vice versa). That is what is happening here, as train 213 traverses the West Point Route. The L&N power that ran from Cincy to Atlanta (GP38-2/GP30/2 GP35s) has been augmented with GARR 1023. The cut of cars added to the rear of the train also includes a second caboose. At Montgomery, the GP7, cab and cut of cars will be removed, and the rest of the train will continue behind the L&N power to NOLA. June 4th, 1975.
