A Walmart cashier was arrested after she was accused of stealing the winning lottery ticket from a customer, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

On June 14, a man went to a Walmart store to cash in a winning lottery ticket worth $2,700.
The victim gave the lottery ticket to cashier Tameka Hall, 40, who informed him that the prize amount exceeded what the store could pay out on-site, according to an arrest affidavit.

Hall allegedly gave the victim a receipt with instructions for cashing the prize but never returned the ticket.
Instead, the affidavit said cameras showed Hall placing the winning ticket in the left pocket of her uniform vest and then eventually leaving work for the day.

Hours later, the victim realized he didn't have his ticket and returned to the store to make a claim.
During an interrogation, Hall claimed she initially did not realize she still had the ticket.

Once she became aware of it, Hall said the victim had already left, so she placed the ticket in her vest and left work for the day, according to the affidavit.
VSO said it retrieved the ticket from her vehicle.

The affidavit said Hall was charged with grand theft of property valued between $750 and $5,000. She was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail without incident.
