This series has introduced me to some incredible stories that never would have discovered - it is great for anyone who enjoys the darker side of cinema.

Weekend festival movie recommendations, we have "Happening" here. Happening for me is a drama "horror" genre because can feel the pain in this movie.

The Plot: A young woman called Annie faced pregnancy in 1960s France when at that time abortion is illegal.

Happening (2021) won the top prize at the 78th edition of the world's oldest film festival, the Venice Film Festival. The award was selected by a jury led by Parasite director B**g Joon-Ho.

Top Gun: Maverick 2022
Directed by Joseph Kosinski

After more than thirty years of service as one of the Navy's top aviators, Pete Mitchell is where he belongs, pushing the envelope as a courageous test pilot and dodging the advancement in rank that would ground him. In a dangerous period for movies when the big screen experience was significantly affected due to global issues, Maverick came in and reassured everybody that, yes, the big screen theater experience is still the way to go with this media (especially Imax theater).

Tom Cruise is one of the biggest and rare movie stars that we still have today and he is in top form here in the main role. He is just as charismatic as he was all those years ago and it’s a testament to great screenwriting that the character still seems like himself despite the many decade's gaps between the two installments. Miles Teller is solid but in a much lesser and not as important role.

Top Gun: Maverick here, everything is conveniently ambiguous, but still as patriotic as the original was. The flight sequences are so absolutely amazing, the action and the score, and the overall ex*****on is so bombastic that they will appeal even to those who aren’t fans of the first flick.

The mesmerizing cinematography that Claudio Miranda did here wrung the maximum amount of suspense and also realism from his shots. Which he did by even shooting many scenes in the cockpit Imax camera itself, which made those shots highly authentic. They even used the US Naval help, which goes to show how professional their approach here was. They ended up shooting the scenes in the jets from six different angles, resulting in a full-view immersive experience.

Top Gun: Maverick is at the end of the day a highly successful sequel that features a weaker storyline and so-so dialogue, but amazing action sequences and stupendous craftsmanship across the board, especially the daring cinematography. Tom Cruise is also outstanding as usual and his character is very well written and explored.

Horror movie night kali ini, kami rekomendasikan film Saint Maud. Film ini menceritakan seorang perawat bernama Maud yang telah mengalami insiden traumatis di tempat kerjanya. Setelah kejadian tersebut hidupnya berubah menjadi lebih religius. Ia memutuskan meninggalkan pekerjaannya di rumah sakit setempat dan bekerja sebagai seorang perawat paliatif pribadi di sebuah kota di tepi pantai Inggris.

Dia menjadi perawat untuk Amanda, seorang mantan penari dan koreografer terkenal yang umurnya tinggal menghitung hari. Melihat gaya hidup Amanda yang berbeda dengan yang di yakini nya, lantas membuat Maud percaya bahwa ia diutus oleh Tuhan untuk menyelamatkan Amanda ke jalan yang benar. Tetapi segalanya mulai menjadi rumit ketika Maud melakukan tindakan tak-tertebak yang membuat kita menjadi berpikir “Jangan-jangan Maud bukan mendengar bisikan Tuhan tapi mendengar bisikan setan".

Film ini tidak mempertunjukan ketakutan-ketakutan yang terjadi secara jelas, tetapi justru memperlihatkan kengerian nya secara ambiguitas dan melewati sisi psikologis, hingga akhirnya menciptakan ketakutan yang mendalam.

Film rekomendasi untuk kalian tonton minggu ini ada Babyteeth (2019).

Berkisah tentang seorang gadis muda, Milla (Eliza Scalen), yang sedang sakit parah hingga membuat kesehatannya terus memburuk dari hari ke hari.
Suatu hari Milla bertemu dengan seorang pria mantan pecandu narkoba, Moses (Toby Wallace). Mereka berdua pun saling jatuh cinta namun orang tua Mila tidak setuju dengan hubungan mereka.

Di film ini, kita di berikan penggambaran tentang penyalahgunaan narkoba dari sudut pandang si pecandu. Sangat menarik untuk mengetahui bagaimana toxic society pun bisa menjadikan seseorang menjadi pecandu. Ini menjadi bukti bahwa banyak faktor yang bisa membuat seseorang masuk kedalam jurang setan.

Film ini tidak hanya tragedi tetapi juga komedi. Kedua perspektif ini membuat film ini unik dan layak untuk ditonton.
Jadi tanpa basa-basi lagi, tambahkan film ini ke watch list kalian.

Movie night recommendation we have:

One of the reasons the Quiet Place film is so powerful is because the protagonists are unable to talk out loud. Krasinski's films are so well-directed that you can watch them without the audio on. The sheer silence and sudden noises give goosebumps with fear, and the dark theme makes your skin crawl with fear!

Movie night for the weekend we have; Loki (the series):

After stealing the Tesseract during the events of Endgame (2019), an alternate version of Loki is brought to the mysterious Time Variance Authority (TVA), a bureaucratic organization that exists outside of time and space and monitors the timeline. They give Loki a choice: face being erased from existence due to being a "time variant", or help fix the timeline and stop a greater threat. Loki ends up trapped in his own crime thriller, traveling through time.
