During the Battle of Karbala, Imam Hussain ibn Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), along with his family members and a small group of companions, faced oppression and injustice at the hands of the Umayyad caliph Yazid's forces. Despite being heavily outnumbered, Imam Hussain and his followers stood firm in their principles and refused to pledge allegiance to Yazid's illegitimate rule. They were denied access to water and food for days and were eventually brutally killed on the 10th day of Muharram, which is known as Ashura.
