Meet the Bamboo Rat: The Strong and Clever Night Creature!
Who would have thought a rat could be such an extraordinary creature? The bamboo rat, with its round body and blunt nose, lives in underground burrows and is widely distributed across Asia, including Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, China, and India.
This animal can reach a length of 25ā35 cm and weigh up to 3 kg. Its continuously growing front teeth make it skilled at gnawing bamboo and roots, its favorite food. They also eat sugarcane, cassava, corn, and tapioca, which sometimes frustrates farmers!
Bamboo rats are nocturnal, live alone, and dig burrows in bamboo groves or pine forests. They only gather during the mating season.
