From Water to Sky: The Amazing Life Cycle of a Dragonfly!

Did you know that dragonflies are among the oldest insects on Earth, and their life cycle is truly fascinating? 🌿
A dragonfly’s life cycle consists of three main stages: egg, nymph, and adult.
The female dragonfly lays her eggs near or in the water, often attaching them to aquatic plants. Once the eggs hatch, nymphs, or larval dragonflies, emerge and live entirely underwater.
During this stage, the nymph becomes a fierce predator—feeding on small insects, and sometimes even tiny fish! It breathes through gills and sheds its skin multiple times as it grows. The nymph stage is the longest part of the dragonfly’s life cycle and can last up to four years, depending on the species.
When it’s ready, the nymph climbs out of the water and sheds its skin one final time. Its body and wings expand, and in just a short while, a fully grown adult dragonfly takes flight šŸŒ¤ļø.
Now, the dragonfly is ready to mate and continue the cycle — from water back to sky.

Shocking Fact: Only 1 in 1,000 Baby Sea Turtles Survive to Adulthood!

Did you know? The chance for a baby sea turtle to survive and grow into an adult is incredibly small — only about one in a thousand! 🐢
Even after hatching, their journey is filled with danger and challenges.
Before they even hatch, turtle eggs are already at risk — preyed upon by jackals, monitor lizards, and raccoons, or damaged by human activity and harsh environmental conditions.
Once they hatch, an even greater struggle begins. As the hatchlings crawl toward the sea, they face predators like birds, crabs, and small mammals.
Artificial lights along the coast often disorient them, leading them away from the ocean and exposing them to more threats.
And even after reaching the ocean, the dangers don’t stop there. Young turtles are easy targets for predatory fish, and the lack of shelter—like coral reefs—makes survival even harder.
Human activities such as hunting and pollution continue to endanger sea turtles at every stage of their lives.
Although hatching success can reach up to 90% in undisturbed nests, only a tiny fraction of hatchlings ever make it to adulthood.
The journey of sea turtles reminds us how fragile nature’s balance is — and how important it is to protect their habitats. šŸŒŠšŸ’š
