PT Len Indonesia Signs production cooperation with Thales to supply 13 Ground Control Intercept (GCI) units to Indonesia

Jakarta, Indonesia - In the military world, Radar is one of the main equipment whose function can be likened to the "eye" of defense. On that occasion, President Director of PT Len Bobby Rasyidin together with Senior Vice President (SVP) Latin America & Asia Thales International SAS signed a joint production cooperation with 13 units of Ground Control Intercept (GCI) radar. Later the radar will have a detection capability of up to 450 km. (May 18, 2022)

Team from Ficantieri shipyard visit PT Pal Indonesia

Surabaya, Indonesia. PT Pal Indonesia Received a Visit from the Ficantieri team. One of the largest shipyard companies in Europe. During the visit, the team from Ficantieri's side was led by Mr. Francesco Maione.
Previously, Indonesia planned to buy 6 frigates fremm class bergamini and 2 fregate class maestrale. The visit is planned to last for 4 days. Some of the agendas in the visit were reviewing aspects of design engineering, supply chain, reviewing facilities, quality assurance of PT Pal Indonesia and others.
First day visit May 17, 2022. Mr. Francesco Maione directly reviewed the production facilities owned by PT Pal Indonesia. During the visit, he said he was amazed by the facilities owned by PT Pal Indonesia. In addition, he added that the facilities owned by Pal Indonesia are able to produce world-class ship products. At the end of the visit, Mr. Francesco expects long-term cooperation between PT Pal Indonesia and Ficantieri.

ASFAT Inc Turkey announced that it has signed an MOU with the Philippine Aerospace Development Corporation (PADC), to supply 6 offshore patrol vessels (OPV)

Manila, Philippines - In the ADAS 2022 exhibition, it was reported that a senior Philippine Navy official had signed an MOU with Turkey's ASFAT Company to supply 6 offshore patrol boats (OPV). In a video release posted by the official ASFAT account, the OPV weighs 2,000 tons, is 86.2 meters long and 14 meters wide. It will be powered by two diesel engines enabling the ship to reach a top speed of 23 knots. It will have a range of 6,000 nautical miles and will have an endurance of 23 days at sea.

The OPV will be equipped with an advanced combat management system, electronic support system (ESM), sonar, air-to-surface search radar and tactical data link. The new ship will not only be capable of conducting maritime security operations and border patrols in the exclusive economic zone (EEZ), but also ISR missions, air and land defense, naval fire support, and protection of critical facilities. Armed with 76 mm main gun, two 30 mm guns, two 12.7 mm guns and equipped with a helipad for 1 helicopter

Israel's Rafael Advanced Defense Systems inaugurated the Spyder Rafael defense system simulation and training center for the Philippine air force

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Air Force (PAF) has inaugurated its first training and simulation center for future operators of Israel's SPYDER missile defense system. The PAF and the Department of National Defense (DND) lead the inauguration of the SPYDER Philippine Air Defense Systems Simulator Training Center at Basa Air Base, in Floridablanca, Pampanga on April 29, 2022.

The inauguration of the facility symbolizes RAFAEL's commitment to partnership with the Philippines in real terms. This institution illustrates RAFAEL's unwavering commitment to not only providing systems, but also imparting knowledge to its partners. The inauguration of the facility is a practical example of RAFAEL's global efforts to support its customers so that systems such as the SPYDER Air Defense System can provide the best defense for their users.

The SPYDER-SR™ and SPYDER-ER™ 360° tilt-launch missile systems provide fast response, lock-on-before-launch (LOBL) and lock-on-after launch (LOAL) capabilities, while extending defensive ranges to a radius of 40 km. . SPYDER-MR™ and SPYDER-LR™ offer interception of medium & long range targets via vertical launch while propelling defensive shrouds to a radius of 80 km. Both systems enable 360° launches in seconds from otherwise hostile targets and provide all-weather, multi-launch and net-centric capabilities. The SPYDER system has advanced ECCM capabilities and uses electro-optic payload observation and wireless data link communication.

Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said such a milestone in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) modernization program was one of the "happiest and proudest" moments as head of Defense in six years. He added “Hopefully this new simulator training center inspires you to see the Commando's bright future, harnessing its capabilities to ensure the success of your missions,” Lorenzana told PAF personnel during the program.

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) partnered with Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) to supply IAI's ALPHA 3D Radar System on the Philippine Navy's new Corvette ship.
April, 28 2022

In media on April 27, IAI said the ELM-2258, developed by subsidiary Elta Systems, would be integrated on a new Philippine Navy corvette being developed by HHI. The IAI's ALPHA 3D radar system is a combat-proven, multifunctional radar that uses active electronically scanned array (AESA) technology and has the capability to "help the Philippine Navy address a wide range of current and future threats", said the spokesperson for the company.

HHI will lead the integration of the ELM-2258 on the Philippine Navy's new corvette. The C4ISR & Mission Systems: Maritime , ELM-2258 IAI can provide 360° coverage and can track low-flying targets within 25 km and high-flying targets within 250 km in complex environments. Additionally, the ALPHA 3D Radar System will be fully integrated with the Combat Management System (CMS) and will provide advanced multi-mission capabilities.
