๐ฉ๐ช Evolution of German Panther Tank Design, 1942โ1945
The Panther began as a German response to the growing threat posed by Soviet tanks in 1942. Daimler-Benz and MAN submitted competing designs for a new medium tank, with MANโs proposal ultimately selected for further development.
The Panther entered service in 1943 with the Ausf. D. Later versions, including the Ausf. A and G, introduced improvements in reliability, protection, and production efficiency. The Panther II and Ausf. F represented further development, but neither reached full-scale production before the end of the war.
From competing prototypes to a mature production design, the Panther underwent major changes in just a few years.
