I love hiking in the desert, but it’s one of those places where preparation really matters.
The sun is intense, water sources are limited, and conditions can change quickly.

Before every desert hike, I make sure I have:

• Sun protection

• Plenty of water (more than I think I’ll need)

• Extra food

• An emergency shelter

• My trail downloaded offline in AllTrails

• My Garmin inReach Mini for emergencies

• An early start to avoid the hottest part of the day

A little preparation can make the difference between a great adventure and a dangerous situation.

Day two of my solo trip to Croatia and today I’m taking a tour I booked through from Split to Plitvice Lakes National Park. This was a 10 hour tour but so worth it! Plitvice lakes is one of the prettiest places I’ve ever been!

Some of Oregon’s best places are the ones without giant signs pointing to them.

The kind of spots you only find because someone says, “Hey, you should go check this out sometime.”

This short waterfall trail tucked into the western Cascades has been one of my favorite places since I was a kid, and even now it still feels a little bit like a secret.

Leave no trace, stay on trail, respect the area, and share thoughtfully. 🌿

Because not every beautiful place needs to become the next viral destination.
