I went searching for the silky white sand beaches of Sandy Bay at The Preserve at Botany Bay and this is what I found instead 🤣🌊

Where did all these rocks come from?! 😂 Don’t get me wrong, the views were still beautiful, but somebody owes me the “silky white sand” they promised. Maybe the tide had other plans for me that day.

Still, exploring the western tip of St. Thomas is always an adventure 💙

All you should know about Mermaid’s Chair 🧜🏾‍♀️🌊

Well… I did not find the Chair 🤣. I was actually looking for the white sand beaches at Botany Bay and somehow ended up here instead. No regrets though because the views were absolutely worth it!

The hike down was beautiful and pretty easy going, but that uphill walk back? Whew 😅 definitely steep and a workout in the Caribbean heat. If I could do it all over again, I definitely would have worn my water shoes.

Mermaid’s Chair is one of the most unique spots on St. Thomas, where a narrow strip of sand separates the Atlantic Ocean from the Caribbean Sea. It’s located in The Preserve at Botany Bay on the West End of St. Thomas, USVI, and getting there requires a moderate to strenuous hike.

A few things to know before you go:
✔️ Hike is about 35–50 minutes each way
✔️ Best visited during low tide
✔️ Bring LOTS of water
✔️ Wear good walking shoes + water shoes
✔️ Don’t forget sunscreen and a hat
✔️ No facilities on the trail or beach

Even though I never officially found the “chair,” I found an unforgettable adventure instead 🌴☀️

Tucked away on the West End of St. Thomas. This beautiful coastal area is set to become home to a luxury eco-resort featuring private hillside villas, fine dining, spa services and cultural experiences.

The project’s projected completion date was Spring 2026, but from what I saw during my visit, it still appears to have a long way to go before opening. On this day we explored the natural beauty of Botany Bay. If you’re looking for land with stunning ocean views and peaceful surroundings this is a great spot 🌴🌊
